Georgia has already posted that there will be no off-line installer. http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=235611 Say what? Who exactly thought that was a good idea? Oh wait, they don't care, it's just some marketing and finance people calling shots.

Bitdefender's job is to give the user the control This. Just this. Should be, at least. (As for the Win 7 telemetry "updates" and the Win 10 upgrade crap, so far they've generally been optional updates, and I check those first and avoided all of them. Worse issue seem to be the "important" updates to Windows Update, which…

In this case, I guess it's the time of the year when I'll need to bring my suggestions list for the past few years up again. For the first time made good on my threats since BD 2012 and haven't used BD this year (well, a quick trial of 2015, but that was it), for the first time since 2004. Stand by the statement that BD…
-
Just noticed the same issue now. Not using 2015. Then again, that is rather a pointless resource hog if HTTP scanning works (and I had that on, always did), but it makes me wonder whether other things stopped working silently as well now.
-
In short, no you can't. I'm also still at 2011 for the same reason. If you tried 2012/2013/2014, 2015 is worse. Not that I tried it myself, didn't try 2014 either, saw quite clearly where it was all going, but 2015 has even less ways to control or monitor anything, such as not even the (unwieldy, too strict for most normal…

Thanks for the reply.

This sure is dropping fast... 6976635. Down some 90k in the past 24h I think, and 67277 over the last 9h, actually tracked this exactly. Either the database had been outragerously bloated for years and they didn't care (peak was some 11.8 million I think?) or they're just moving all stuff to cloud and good luck even with…
-
Well, the value install&forget stuff has for me is precisely zero if it's anything important.
-
IDK whats the problem with Bitdefender....they just removed PARANOID MODE, NETWORK ACTIVITY & BANDWIDTH MONITOR from 2015 versions....however on users request they'll implement paranoid mode but not the other two. Im suspicious about it too....Georgia mentioned its for their technical purpose only LOL Fits their long-term…

Yeah, just noticed that EoL date a few days ago when I checked. Was worrying, but it's not like I've been expecting program updates to it for quite some time now. What I'm interested in is to have accurate 0-day definitions still being added (and if you look on the definitions download page, you see them going back to…
-
you're welcome. which version are you using currently? the screen grab is of 2014 I don't use the 2015 build either. 2011, last one before they thoroughly messed up everything. Ability to set firewall rule scope from the prompt, to decide whether I want a rule to be created at all, and to set "prompt user for action" in…
-
Yep, exact same number here too, thank you. Still concerned about efficiency though, talking of an old version that relies mainly on definitions, not cloud scanning or such.
-
Been decreasing constantly for months, and you can find threads here dating back to spring, when it peaked, explaining that the signature database is being compacted, but I'd like to know what the normal number is now just to be sure, and if it's the same for all versions, including particularly old ones that still let the…

SRY.what U mean ?? !!! I mean I'm ###### at them. The simple answer to your question is that you can't find those functions anymore because they no longer exist, and will not be added back.
-
They don't exist anymore, removed along with basically any other option anyone who has any clue as to what they want to do with their computer may find in any way useful. And they will not be readded. Because, you know, the point is to have another piece of software that controls your computer without your knowledge or…

These products are specifically designed to be simple automated decision free protection , if you want an AV that is fully interactive you made the wrong choice. Problem is that they didn't use to be the wrong choice up to the 2011 version, and 2012 and 2013, obviously 2014 too though I never even touched that myself to…

Just poking through here to add a bit more to this: It is a matter of both control and security, and Paranoid mode was rather a carpenter's hammer for a watchmaker in terms of that, far too rough and unwieldy for most jobs, but it was the only thing left that may in any way do the job since BD 2012 (why I'm still at…

Eh, about the ad blocker, I personally wouldn't add it, or at least wouldn't use it. Matter of fairness really. Ads are the price to pay to use websites without paying for that directly otherwise, so I'll put up with them as long as they're safe, don't cause a serious performance hit and don't start making sounds. What an…

Nvm, apparently solved.
-
Updated version here. Also made it generic while I was at it, wishlist for customization options of antivirus software in general, seeing as BD won't care.
-
What AlphaBetaEcho said. Seems like when it cleans something, it sets IE's homepage to blank and hides hidden files and folders, and you need to reboot before setting them back (and make sure it won't detect something again then). Very annoying. Do fix it.
-
more here Unfortunately, it also labels simple programs as it and automatically deletes them... Submitted one via contact, and see others complaining of the same on the forums.
-
+1 (or more) here too. Though what I'd want (and keep saying whenever I end up here or e-mailing support for a problem) is a return to the firewall notifications from BitDefender 9 (2005-2006 edition), where you were able to specify whether you wanted to create a rule or not (as in just apply the answer to the current…

<snip> Have to wonder why do you support people (assuming this is the generic account) keep asking people to send reports for the same problem all day. After yesterday's update to the new build, you're lucky if you can boot at all without disabling on-access scan (and you need to boot to disable it after a crash, which is…
-
Totally agree. They just want you to wait, wait, wait, AND WAIT just like i said before, next build etc.. Unless you have all the time in the world, don't mess with this stupid software. I'm glad somebody suddenly notice that there's a BIG problem. Christian wrote: all customer receive request to their answers maximum…
-
Sure hope it will be fixed soon... Rebooted yesterday when I saw an update required a reboot and since then very poor performance, odd HDD access patterns, and last night blue screen. Reboot in safe mode with command prompt to have it run a checkdisk (at least now I can!), then try to boot normally and another blue screen…
-
Heh, rebooted again, just to test... And there was the can't run as admin problem again. Which once again went away after another reboot. It would be amusing if it wouldn't be infuriating, seems like BD tosses a ### to decide whether or not I can run stuff as admin. Which means we can quite definitely rule out MBAM as the…

Been using BD since 2004 (as I tend to keep mentioning whenever there are issues... unfortunately there ARE issues usually in the first 2 or so months after release and (very interestingly) in the last month before the release of the next version pretty much every single time, and they get no less frustrating) and I really…
-
AHEM! Was told (both my mail and (later) on here) apparently that a conflict MBAM is causing it (even though the conflict shouldn't exist, not having active protection, even if it tries to do something on boot, as you say, an exception should be added to the code to allow it to do so if the issue is known - and besides, it…
