Its really bad when someone has to make a separate program just "watch" bit defender to make sure it doesn't crash. You shouldn't have to uninstall ANY software other than antivirus software. Other porgrams such as Spybot S&D, ADAware and other programs like those should still be used in conjunction with bit defender or…

Got it working. I had to right click on the download/installer program and click on "Run as Administrator"

Ok will do.

Should I reinstall BD on the vista machine and then gather reports?
-
Thanks for the reply. Later today I will send the diagnostic info. I gata go to work.

Opps, I completely missed the 2010 Forum at the bottom of the Forum list. Darn it. Sorry Could someone move this thread? Thanks

Cris, I think there needs to be a "Standard Install" Option and "Expert Install" option. Standard install what novice users probably should have without questioning. Expert install option should allow other users to customize the install completly.

That would make THREE work arounds Didn't think of those two ways for the reasons below First, I like IE and I also like the Newer version of Gmail. I don't find a need to use the antiphishing toolbar anyways. Since its so easy to disable as a whole, I don't find a reason to install a new browser due to it or have Gmail…

I think you should put it back. It's up to ME, the user, to decide whether your program runs or not. That's the main reason, and it should be enough. Disable it. Its that easy. Nothing gives you the right to invade my computer like that. Invade your computer? It was up to you to install it, they never invaded your computer…

1. It's in my computer, it's under my control. Thats fine... But not a reason why you should ever NEED to exit out of it. See Below. 2. Too many processes, 4, count them. Thats nothing compared to other AV softwares. 3. Too much memory use, Usually less than 8Mb used. I have seen it up to around 15Mb. That counting all 4.…

The AntiPhishing Toolbar needs attention. This toolbar slows a lot of webpages down and I have noticed it causes little issues when playing Netflix movies on my Vista laptop which I connect to the TV and Stereo for better viewing. I had to disable it as a whole from the Manage Add-Ons feature in IE on both XP and Vista…

but I know enough to see that you don't know what you are talking about. Killing running processes prevents the program from starting with windows. Does not effects the computer in any other ways. It's an awkward way of doing it, but it does what the setting "do not start with windows" in "virus protection" is supposed to…

their antishishing toolbar in the user's brouser in a way that it cannot be uninstalled like any other extension? Thats the great thing about Internet Explorer in Windows XP and Vista. There is this neat little thing called "Manage AddOns" in the Tools menu. Go in there and disable the Toolbar as whole. I had to do this…

You have documentation of this because I call BS. I have search the NET and the Microsoft site for this so called AVG virus or AVG being a virus and I found nothing. I have seen compatability reports for AVG on Vista which test fine. Im sure if AVG was a virus, they wouldn't be telling consumers that AVG is compatible.…

In case you didn't notice AVG IS A VIRUS. They claim to be what they are not. They invade your system through your Internet Explorer ONLY. Microsoft has been chasing this for a week or two now and can't seem to isolate it You have documentation of this because I call BS. What do you mean through internet explorer only?…

As I mentioned in another post, BD09 is starting to look like Norton (I despise that product beyond anything; I've actually seen it prevent me from removing spyware from other peoples infected computers among the most annoying features). I don't count on ANY Antivirus software to remove spyware/adware. Since they all are…

I totally agree with you and dont really want a av program taking control but. I don't understand why people say Bitdefender is taking control. I have control over what it does. I CAN shut it down using third party software if I really wanted to, or I can also prevent it from starting the next time I reboot, but why would…

I have been working on this a little more and found that the above is the only way so far for me. I have tried adding Gmail, Google, mail.gmail.com domains to the whitelist but BD Toolbar still slows it down. Slows a lot of webpages down. I have also clicked "Disable" option in the BD Toolbar Menu but that doesn't fix the…

I installed the BD trail version instead untill I can afford to get the subscription again. I shouldn't have to do this.

Thanks Catalin Salgau.

Oh gez, you know I didn't even read the title of the file correctly. I juwt sw "Google Sketch Up" and thought, ok its from google. But Now that I read the title some more, yes I doubt its a false positive too.

For stuborn virus files, I have been using a program called "Unlocker 1,7" A program that helps to "unlock" the file from windows process' to eliminate the "Error Deleting, File in use" error you get all the time. Link: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ I find this helps a lot. Safe mode doesn't always work but when…

No more bugs in Av 2008?
-
I can appreciate the security aspect, but I don't understand why "Exit" is even an option if all it does is make the system tray icon disappear. Having it there gives the impression that it's supposed to shutdown BD as is the function of clicking "Exit" with other programs. Guess it's not a bug then. I have found this with…

All these issues, are all of you Beta testers or did you pay or upgrade to 2008? I find it very disturbing that 2008's beta testings seemed to be very short. Correct me if im mistaken but I saw 2008 talked about one day and then on the market the next. Av 10 is great and could have lasted till the end of the year which…

Sorry but this is General talk not Discutii generale,so i can olny talk in english, anyways if Security Task Manager is so unreliable i wonder why they made it lol . Cheers! I wouldn't say its so unreliable. It has its purpose like all other programs and like other process monitoring programs, you need to know exactly what…

As a suggestion for BD AV 10. Would it be possible to have multiple virus' listed in ONE virus alert notification box? Maybe as a scroll box instead of multiple boxes? This way you can have 1000 virus' listed and you only have to click OK once to get rid of the box. Also, when virus alert is up, you can't do anything with…

Well I found out where I can turn virus alert off. I don't know why I didn't see it before since I was browsing the "custom" settings before. Thanks Softwin for BD AV 10.

I have had experience with a few Vundo issues on 2 computers. They like to run one file under explorer and winlogin. If you attempt to disable one or the other, they will simply come back. I find unlocker is the only way to go when manually deleting Vundo files. There is also a program out there called Pocket Killbox. This…

99 times out of 100, cracks contain some sort of malware. Since you download cracks, im sure you download full version programs with serial numbers and such. I hope your BD product is legit. Almost all full version programs your DL will have some sort of malware. I have noticed many malwares don't really do anything since…
