Thanks for the info Sm3K3R, it's a shame these 2 don't play nice together. I'm partial to Zonealarm so I installed BDAV 2009 and that combination works fine. I hope BD is able to address this issue soon, I am willing to provide any debug files that are needed to help identify and fix the problem.

Just updating my previous post, I uninstalled and re-installed the latest version and the tray icon is back. Obviously not something I want to have to do all the time, but for now all is good. Guess next time I get the message after an update saying I need to reboot I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best!

Found the offline installation files in case anyone is interested. The links are in this post. Will try to reinstall later and see if the tray icon reappears after updating.

Did a little more digging today and still can't get the tray icon to show up. I noticed that bdagent is no longer listed in Taskmgr, but it is set as a startup item along with ieshow in the run registry key.
