  • Thanks for providing the changelog 😊 A big update indeed. Hi @camarie! You said one of your previous comment that your team is working on some optimization of the product. Are these new drivers related to that? Can you provide any insight regarding these new drivers? And @Alexandru_BD, do you know when this new version…
  • I think one area Bitdefender should try to improve is the update process. Currently from I see is that Bitdefender on every signature update writes about 500 MB data on average. It seems Bitdefender downloads the update, verify it, move a large portion/the whole of the old database and create new database files containing…
  • Technically isn't it available in other Bitdefender editions also? I thought this is something Bitdefender was detecting anyway through signatures + behavior blocker.
  • I can confirm that the issue is back. For the engineers to easily reproduce it, plug off your ethernet cable/turn off your wifi, start your system and then try to launch apps. Try unsigned apps too. The delay is extremely severe. More than 30 seconds some times. You may not even require to reproduce how I suggested. I even…
  • You have to provide more details like, which program is causing this behavior?
  • In my case, fast startup is disabled and Bitdefender updates signature 5-6 minutes after turning on the system. Tested on three different systems. Two real machine and one VM. All SSD users should turn fast startup off.
  • Hello @Bogdan BOTEZATU, I hope this Q&A session is still alive. My question is regarding malware using direct sys calls to try to bypass AV products: Here is a EDR product test that was done in 2021: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2108.10422.pdf 4 types of malware were tested here. Bitdefender did better than most products…
  • Hi! Thanks for the response. TBH, point 2 & 3 doesn't seem plausible to me. Most AV products usually don't want to support anything outside of Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari on Mac because other browsers don't have high enough users at the moment. So they don't want the development team to waste time and resources on…
  • I also talked to them about it and the reply I got kind of meant that Bitdefender won't detect this driver file itself but would stop any attempt to exploit this driver by attackers.
  • Thank you. Fingers crossed 🤞
  • Hi @Alexandru_BD! I see that I made this feature suggestion more than a year ago. Do you have any info whether there's any chance for this feature to be added in Bitdefender Home products?
  • Hi @Alexandru_BD! I sent this sample to Bitdefender twice so far, but no signature has been added yet. Can you please do something about it? BTW, Bitdefender's behavior blocker immediately detects it after execution, so users are protected but still a signature is needed to detect it prior to execution.
  • Thank you Scott, for your kind words :) One thing I can suggest regarding this is that the explanation of this feature in the Bitdefender UI needs to be changed as it doesn't give the accurate information IMO. It says, "Encrypted web scan Checks the safety of encrypted web pages. Encrypted web pages can use certificates…
  • Hi! Thanks. I checked just some minutes ago and came here to comment and I see that you have already commented. You're right. Disabling "Encrypted web scan" completely disables the scanning of HTTPS traffic. Well, that's disappointing because other products can block malicious/phishing hosts even when HTTPS scanning is…
  • No problem. I see that you provide plenty of support to members who face other issues. So, you are a great help :) Maybe @Alexandru_BD would know if there's any ongoing issue like this. Yeah, the ChatGPT based bot is a nice addition there courtesy of Jack who is the founder of the site. I'm just a regular member there :)
  • Yeah, it's nice there. Like every public forum where geeks collide there are always some fights, arguments, disagreements, bias, harmony, jokes, comedy and everything. So it's fun 😂
  • Okay, I understand. Thank you 🙂
  • Thanks. I'm aware of it and will consider it the next time. I reported here thinking if someone like @Alexandru_BD sends the samples, then they might get added to database quicker since he is a Bitdefender employee. But anyway, no problem.
  • Thank you very much for changing the name. Yeah, Bitdefender certainly has one of the largest, if not the largest database of all products out there. They also like to keep all of the signatures locally so it has very good detection rate even when the system is offline or the connection is down. I also really appreciate…
  • I agree that not all tests are worth checking out. I know about AMTSO and AvLab Poland not being a part of it. I even shared this in the malwaretips forum that I linked above (SeriousHoax is my name on that forum. I use that name everywhere, don't know why I chose a different one in this forum. If you or any other mod can…
  • Hello @Alexandru_BD @Gjoksi Actually, when you do a Google search regarding Bitdefender's sample submission page, the business page is what comes out at first. So when I discovered it maybe around 2 years ago. Back then, I didn't even notice that it was for business users. But anyway, it always worked, so I was happy. It's…
  • Thank you guys for helping. I received a reply from the support team today. My reported issue has been forwarded to the research lab, and hopefully they will be able to find a solution. BTW instead of opening another thread, let me just ask it here, @Alexandru_BD Is there anything wrong with this particular sample…
  • Yes, Bitdefender Free also has Photon. Go to the Bitdefender free section in the Bitdefender website. Scroll down to the Compare Bitdefender Products section and click on the Windows Protection. It will show you what is available on each version.
  • I saw your suggestions and yeah, setting a password would be a nice addition, but I don't think that's gonna happen. That's not how BD want to design their product, I think. Every brand has a different vision. Besides, most AVs don't provide such options, so they probably don't feel the urge to do something about it…
  • Yeah, that's the only thing I can do at the moment, which is a bit frustrating. I hope things changes. I understand, thanks. The team is always working on something, and it's not always possible to fix/change things quickly. Some things are more prioritized than others. Hopefully, at least before the end of 2022, the issue…
  • Hello, I can confirm that this happens for me also. I'm from a country where power-cut happens sometimes. So when this happens, apps takes much longer to load. Even trusted and signed apps takes long. I checked the CPU usage to see if Bitdefender is doing any sort of extra scan/emulation type thing, but there is no…
  • I see that Bitdefender is taking full advantage of the situation regarding to another popular rival of Bitdefender who were the previous partner. This is a very good marketing strategy to attract more customers to Bitdefender. Kudos to the team. The red of Bitdefender is a better match to the red of Ferrari 😉
  • Though it seems like a good idea in theory, it could actually be risky. I saw someone last year created something like an autoclicker which was coded to pause protection and exit AV software that provides that option in tray icons. This tool could only do this for any tray icon items. He tested two products. One AV was…
  • Sorry for disappearing after posting it. Thanks @Scott. I'm surprised too and as you can see, the current system is not ideal at all. I hope the team makes the necessary changes to make it more simple and effective without the issues that I described above. Thanks @Alexandru_BD for moving it to a more appropriate section.…
  • Bitdefender is not ideal for an old system like yours. It's not going to be any lighter. Bitdefender is very fast on a decent system with SSD. Your system config is simply not strong enough for BD to perform properly without having the impact that you're having. There are one or two other free AV that might do a better job…
