I have not checked my virus signatures and am at work now. I did however lose my anti-phishing protection. I checked the 'fix' option and it said it was o.k. but the toolbar never came back on. It is grey instead of red like it is still not active.

Niels is 100% correct. I thought I had a fool proof system for removing software. First I would use the company's uninstall/removal tool. I would make sure I shutdown as instructed as part of the removal process. I would then do a search of my C and D drive for the product name. I would usually find some entries there…

I for one have relied on the mentioned ratings to get an idea of which application is doing it's job. I never take the ratings 100%. I then pick an application using my best judgement. So much depends on the configuration of each PC both in hardware and software specs. Some applications will work beautifully on one machine…

I am not an expert but I have learned that you never have 2 firewalls running. You must choose between Microsoft and in this case, BitDefender…

That sounds like psguard. I had it 2-3 years ago. I found out a lot by googling it. If I remember right the only thing I found that removed it was spybot search & destroy and or Spyware Dr. No one application can catch everything but this has been around for so long it seems bitdefender should be able to detect it. Good…

Maybe it's me. BitDefender sure has quite a few applications rated better including the always despised Norton. Is this supposed to make me happy???

I ran Registry Cleaner on, 07/19/08 that was part of BD Total Security 2008, on Desktop(Windows2000Pro. SP4), then my son ran it on 7/25, and 7/26 twice because BD TS icon indicated immediate attention was required. Since then my computer will not shutdown automatically most of the time, I now have to use power button to…
