Look on the Tune-up-->Optimization tab. If it is checked, uncheck the option to run a scan when the system is idle. Thanks, that solved one problem. Now if it would only keep running and stop having the serious errors which require a reboot.

Got the call and spent several hours with the Tech working on my computer. I'm happy to say I think the issue is solved. Couldn't follow all the steps the tech was doing but bottom line the issue seems solved. Time well tell. Problem is not solved once again the software is not responding...
