There is a reason you are the 123527th person to post about his.....they can't fix it. I think you will find most of the people that have posted about this problem have given up and gone to a different product...which I myself just finished doing. Guess I'll have to join a different forum now.

This has been an ongoing problem with BD for quite some time now, and I too suffer the same problem on the 3 computers I have BD installed on. This topic has appeared several times over the last couple of years on the forum and obviously this is just a problem with how BD is programmed to run and they cannot fix it. In my…

Well, I know you are about tired of messing with this, but try this and see if it works. Follow these instructions to set up a bitdefender scan in safe mode: Open up a text editor, like notepad, and type in the following just as it looks here, or just copy and paste into notepad: %systemdrive% cd C:\Program Files\Common…

Try following this link to live support: http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Live-Assistance.html When you get to this site, click on the picture of the girl with the headset on and it should bring up a chat screen that you can use to connect to a support tech. This is probably the quickest way to get some help. Jim

Hi Doctorhay53 I had just about the same problem the other day. Not only would my BitDefender not update, it didn't even recognize that I had an engine version or virus definitions. I had no event logs showing or anything, just like it all had been deleted. I too had to do a reinstall to solve the problem. I have no idea…

I guess I could have made things easier and put in a link to Andrei's topic. Sorry, I wasn't thinking. Click /index.php?/topic/1378-how-to-scan-your-pc-with-bitdefender-in-safe-mode/" rel="">here and that should take you to it.

At the top of the Malware topic page there is a topic by AndreiASM about how to run a scan in safe mode. Read it, then try to run a scan in safe mode. Usually that works. Jim

Try turning off real time protection and run another scan.

Hi ejames82, You can write a batch file and save it to your desktop or mydocuments file that will run Bitdefender in safe mode with one simple click. Open up a text editor, like notepad, and type in the following just as it looks here: %systemdrive% cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Softwin\BitDefender Scan Server bdc /f /b…

Once again a question about BD and safe mode. Yes, you can run bdc.exe in safe mode, but you have to know where it is, how to get there, and you still have to know those pesky command lines to get it to do what you want it to do. I've written batch files to run BD in safe mode to make life a little easier for me, but it…

The first thing I would do is find another mouse lying around and hook that up and see if you have the same problems. If another mouse works, then there may be something wrong with the mouse you are using now. If there was an installation disc that came with your cordless keyboard/mouse, then you might also try…

Hey AndreiASM I've actually never had a mouse problem while BD was updating, just sometimes some programs slowing down, but I have seen the mouse pointer jump around kind of funny while being moved when there was a lot of memory being used by several programs. Just thought the memory tie-up might be the problem.
-
I've noticed on my computer that when BD updates it sometimes uses a LOT of CPU and memory resources during the update which can cause the mouse pointer to do some funny things and other programs to load/run slow, so that may be the problem. I've learned to live with it and just wait until BD is through updating before…

I've set firefox to clear all my private data, which includes the cache, every time I shut firefox down (who me, paranoid?), so I haven't had any problems with freezing with http scanning enabled. Firefox is a little slow to load because I have several extensions on it, but actual surfing on the net doesn't seem to be…

See, I'm learning more every day, even if I have to ask stupid questions. Oh, well....if you don't ask, you will never find out. Thanks for the info. Jim

Cris, Can Crem run command lines once he has booted from the rescue cd and run bitdefender from the command lines? This would enable him to use the current virus definitions he already has on his computer. I haven't played around with Linuxdefender so I don't know what it will allow you to do on individual PC's.

Hi kninejim, This is not correct. BitDefender On Demand Scan can delete the infected files that Realtime Protection has blocked. The problem with the previous files (that were located in Firefox's cache) was that they were archived. BitDefender uses many un-pack plug-ins to scan packed files for viruses/malware. But when…

Unfortunately BitDefender protects your computer too well sometimes. When it locates a virus, but can't delete, disinfect or move it, then it denies access to it so it can't infect your computer. The bad thing about that is when you run an on demand scan it seems to deny access to the virus even by it's own scan engine…

I hope it helps. Let me know. If it doesn't, then live assist,or maybe Cris, Niels or Florin Stiuca can offer more suggestions.

Hey Stephen, I was looking through some of the support articles and found this one that addresses a possible problem with bitdefender and outlook. Maybe this article will give you a starting place to try and solve the problem. http://www.bitdefender.com/KB85-en--Troubl...am-toolbar.html

I'm afraid I can't give you a good reason for this behavior, but I know in another thread on this forum someone was having a conflict between BitDefender and Office 2007 apps while trying to save files over a network. Looks like there might be some problems between BitDefender and Office 2007 that the people at Bitdefender…

AndreiASM is right. Windows seems to protect things in system restore from anything being done by AV programs other than finding viruses, so getting rid of the restore points is about the only way I know of getting rid of bugs in system restore. Not the end of the world, but do remember to turn it back on. Restore points…

I was also having a similar problem as Nifty with my outlook account. Whenever I would try to send an email with a video attachment I would get a server timeout message. If I turned BitDefender off, then the email would go through. I went into outlook and increased the server timeout setting, and this seems to have fixed…

I am having the same problem. I have 2 instances of warezov.xm.m in my eudora files that bitdefender can not remove. It says disinfect failed, rename failed, move failed each time I run the virus scan. I tried your removal instructions but when I go to the cmd dialog box, it can not find the folder BitDefender Scan Server.…

Hi Jimbo Kern If you are interested in testing your firewall, you might try Steve Gibson's web page a grc.com. He has a leak tester and the Shields Up page can scan your computer for firewall inbound vulnerabilities. Some of the other leak testers I've seen out there contained viruses or trojans, but as far as I know…

One more thing I didn't see before. The virus is also in a place that starts D:RECYCLER\.....which is in system restore. Most antivirus programs that I know of can't get rid of things in system restore, so about the only way to get rid of them is to turn off system restore, which means you lose all your restore points (not…

Hey Sn33R Two things. The file magne2t that shows was detected in your scan summary is probably from limewire, and will probably be replaced each time you crank up limewire (if you have limewire). I have the same thing happen on my kids' computer. Not much you can do about that other than not use limewire. Now, for you…

I owe Niels an apology. His command lines for running bitdefender in safe mode do work, just not on my computer the way he had written them. I hope he doesn't mind me putting them here, but here is Niels' command lines: When you are in safe mode go to start, run, at the run dialog box type cmd press enter. Then type…
