  • I am having this same problem... Can anyone from Support help me? It has been going on ever since I installed it... It's too bad im locked in for a few more years of this BS. BTW i am on Windows XP SP2.. I'm not from bitdefender, but at least i will respond to you. My best idea which has worked the longest and gotten it…
  • Your right Goshunk. This problem has been around for a while and as you can see from the length of this topic, it has yet to solved. For me at least, this seems to happen most often during updates. I'd recommend changing the autoupdate to every 4 hours to minimize the 100% usage problem. It will still happen but not as…
  • There is not a consistent way to fix the death star error you get with BD. The best way I have found is to run uninstall tool and get rid of as many traces of BD as you can. Then once deleted run your best registry cleaner to wipe away any registry fragments. Then reinstall and pray the death star doesnt come back.
  • There is another much longer thread about this further back. I think last reply was July 14. Read that and you will see how great of a problem this really is. You are lucky its only happening occasionally. For me it happens non-stop if I leave my computer unattended for more than 30 min or go into hibernation mode. All I…
  • wow that really ###### dude. dont know how to help you but it sounds terrible. this BD thing is no joke i guess.
  • does anyone know what the point of the antiphishing protection in BD is anyway? Most browsers already have antiphishing. Does this add any other security or just overlap protection?
  • ok here is what I did and this has kept BD running about 95% of the time. What you need to do is download CCcleaner (registry cleaner). get it on your comp as quickly as you can. Then do the BD uninstall tool. Restart comp. Then when your back up with no AV protection, run the cc registry cleaner. I found 5 or 6 lines of…
  • Not to say the BD is working great right now, but I have noticed far less gray ball "not responding" errors since I deleted BD and did a registry clean and wiped out all old BD registry keys. I reinstalled and now the only problem I have been having is massive slowdown when BD updates. I changed update cycle to every 4…
  • this happened to me multiple times the other day. BD still is working because you can open it via start menu or desktop icon, you just dont have the system tray icon.
  • I have had the same bogus issues as many others. The dreaded gray icon in the task bar. But mine only happens during BD updates (which is once an hour). It used to happen all the time until I removed other spyware programs, deleted BD and did registry cleaner, then reinstalled it. Now at least it works 80% of the time. The…
  • Wow. I just turned off anitphishing and my internet is working great again. I have been dealing with this issue for months. Its awesome to be able to use internet without 20 second lag before you do anything I will leave antiphishing off until more people have sucess with it on. What is the point of this anyway? Don't most…
  • Don't get too excited yet. This issue has been going on for a while and a lot of people are experiencing it. I had though I solved it as well and it came back a few days later. If you really did solve the issue please advise what you did so others can benefit from your experience.
  • Is there anyway to fix this issue? It has been going on for months. It seems to have gotten better at one point, now the gray icon is not there all day. However, when it does appear seems to be during updates or product downloads, where the computer gets super slow and icon turns gray for about 10 minutes. Literally cannot…
  • wow that is weird. never heard of anything like it. Sorry man
  • Does it say anything when it fails (error message?). Did you try running a regular scan without doing the "fix" option?
  • Wow this seems really complicated. why can we not just right click on the system trey icon and hit exit. I know we used to be able to do this with the older BD applications.
  • I know you can go into the settings button at the top right of the screen. There a bunch of checkmarks there. Just disable the ones you dont want, mainly Antivirus and Firewall etc. Or just uncheck them all and then run your other program. When your done you can just go back in and recheck these boxes to enable BD again.…
  • you can always click on the check box "wait for reboot instead of prompting" and you should not see that box anymore. However how often are you restarting normally? On mine i restart every few days maybe so I dont want to have the AV running there with no update for 3 days. Also half the time it goes gray in the system…
  • so this happens ever single time the program updates? I get the reboot message once and a while but usually when it runs a major update. If you click "ok" instead of reboot does the program still work or will it go gray in the system tray?
  • not really sure about this one. I would try using the removal tool first instead of doing the windows add remove programs. Maybe reinstall BD and then try removing with the removal tool first.
  • Ok. I sent the requested files for analysis. Hopefully this is something that can be resolved soon. I am currently debating renewing my bitdefender subscription and if I cannot get this issue fixed I will be forced to turn elsewhere. Thanx for your help with troubleshooting this issue. Scott
  • I had the same issue BrianNet with BDIS10, although I cannot trace it directly to bitdefender its the same issue you are experiencing. Firefox freezes constantly and hangs for a while (not responding) until it finally reacts. If i am loading a webpage it will take a very long time waiting and then load all at once. Its…
  • I had the same type of issue hady. The bitdefender icon in the taskbar is grayed out and if you click on it you just get a message saying that bitdefender services are not responding. If I restart it will work okay but this happens quite frequently so I should not have to restart constantly just so that bitdefender works.…
