vsserv will own you!

Are you referring to the Death Star issue? That's where you get the gray ball in the system tray and bd stops responding until you restart you computer? This does not happen to me anymore, now I just get massive slowdown and BD using high resources at random times. Make sure that you have no other traces of any security…

Danny, What i mean by "everything takes 20 seconds to load" is that when i click a link it takes about 20 seconds before it actually starts trying to load the page. The first 5-10 seconds browser goes into "not responding". If i do ctrl + alt + del it shows browser not responding. Then I wait a little longer and the page…

Johny. Yes I've done this before too. I usually put it on for every 4 hours or manual and do update before I go to bed. Not sure how much this really compromises computer security though.
-
Seems that instead of dealing with the problem in a global way (instead, ea user has to upload logs to BD), they just close the existing threads. Just like everyone else, vsserv is using 30-60% of my cpu and 1.5 million of my virtual memory. I have malwarebytes, but it's the free edition, so no real time protection. Spybot…

This happens to me as well. If you are going to go through the hassle of reinstalling everything first run a registry cleaner before you do. Run a registry cleaner and delete any extra BD entries. Then reinstall and try the following setting changes: Updates - settings -> turn off "enable update sharing (P2P) Antivirus -…

Hi Steve, As you didn't received the emails I've sent, I have created a new ticket with the ID: 201009241006824. Check your Hotmail account and send me back the full logs requested. Regards, I received the new one. I have sent the requested information.

@stinkypant - I have had this problem periodically since late in version 2009. My best suggestion to you is turn off auto update or put it on every 4 hours. The updates are a major contributor to slowdown. This usually happens before and during the update process. You can set them for manual (run it before you go to sleep…
-
What email did you send it to? I have not received yet. Vsserv seems to run highest when my computer is idle for a while and then I come back to it or right around time of BD update (hourly).
-
yes vsserv takes up a lot of resources some times. I have this same problem. not sure what you can do about it other than restart frequently
-
these boxes were already unchecked. the problem persists
-
how do you upload the log file if bitdefender is causing slowdown issues when it's connected to the internet. The first step above is to "First please unplug the Internet cable from your computer or disable the Wireless adaptor if you are using one"
-
Does your BD work ever or does it immediately go to the "services not responding" issue? If it works for a while, do you know when it seems to fail? this used to happen to me during updates or if computer was idle for a period of time (harddrive shuts off etc). If you think it's during updates you can always change update…

The computer will run faster or slower depending on two things: - the computer performance meeting the recommended settings for using BitDefender - the settings within BitDefender Security Center Please advise the recommended computer performance for BD. I have 1GB ram. Microsoft Windows XP service pack 3. centrino duo…

as noted though. what happens if our issue is related to BD connecting with internet and causing slowdown? I cannot duplicate the issue if have the internet adapter turned off. The slow down usually occurs during updates or internet browsing in general.
-
Dan, I did everything in this step and the response I received back was just plain ignorant. Here is my support ticket #201008301014511. I also sent you a private message with the ticket # as well. Support told me to uninstall and reinstall 2011 which is just not going to work. I have also included the screen shots of the…

do the uninstall. then once you know it has been successfully uninstalled, use a registry cleaner to wipe out any BD files that still remain (there will be some). then install another av program that works
-
also question, why when running the support tool do we have to disconnect internet wire? I think a lot of the slowdown is caused by BD interacting with internet. I've tried the support tool without internet turned on it and BD works fine. Do we really have to turn off internet when using support tool?

I've had that issue for most of my license with 2010. It started happening at the beginning of this year, and i have to constantly restart to get my CPU resources to a usable level. I have used BD since 2007 and these programs were very good. Since end of 2009 and 2010 the program has caused a lot of problems. It's mainly…

It's true. I just deleted BDTS and now my computer runs fine. Fast again. It worked so hard when BD was running and it's weird because when you run task manager it's not always BD processes taking up a lot of mem. But somehow while bitdefender is running it makes other programs use more memory. Firefox for example runs at…

yeah this is pretty annoying. i mean i have used BD for a while and the scans have always worked without problem, it was always other issues the brought BD down. Ever since installing BTDS 2011 i have not been able to complete full scan. it even finds 1 issue but cannot resolve it because the scan failed. I have to restart…

yep it ######

My thing is, if there is an issue that happens consistently, and you solve it for one person, why not post the steps used to fix it? Sure all situations are different and it might now work for everyone but at least it will give people a glimmer of hope that people have had some success with different solutions in the past.…

We just installed 2011 BD Trial and were advised to disable the Windows Firewall prior to installing. Now that we are complete, should we re-activate Windows Firewall? Thank you! That depends what version of BD you are using. If you have internet security or total security, no need to re-activate the firewall. If you just…

I don't remember being able to schedule tune-ups in the last version, but maybe you could. Anyway why do you want to schedule them in the first place? I think tune-up tools are only recommended like once per month. I think these are more on demand scans as opposed to scheduling them but i could be wrong
-
yeah, maybe its some kind of default message that is the same for all the versions. Either way you can just turn it off to install and then turn back on after reinstall, this should not cause a conflict with BD
-
Nope, after about 2 days, it crashed once again, same error, same gray icon. This issue will never be resolved. I have had this since 2009 version. The death star takes over your system tray and you cant do much to stop it. I even just installed 2011 and the issue still persists. Luckily only 25 days left on license to…

Bitdefender's Processes Never Respond The Grey Icon Shows... Im Using Windows 7 X64 LOL this is still happening in the new version? This was a major show stopper in 2010 and you would think BD would have spent all their resources to correct the issue. I've experienced it multiple times already and have only just installed…
-
I am having the same issue (gray ball) on about half of my 10 computers, all running Windows XP SP2, both Media and Pro versions. It seems to be getting worse as the year progresses. One of them is my POS server so it is a real pain to reboot except for after store hours. yeah, that really ######. sounds like a more major…

I also noticed that this tends to happen if you leave your computer idle for a while, whether it's hibernating or harddrive is off, etc. i dont know what causes it. But you might do yourself a favor if your restart more frequently I try to restart once every 2 days now. The death star does not come up when you restart, at…
