My VPN simply will not start or connect??

Try changing the protocol of the VPN, in the VPN app go to "settings" then "advanced" then "protocol".
If the VPN app doesn't start then uninstall the VPN (only the bitdefender VPN app and not the bitdefender total security or whichever one you have), then reinstall the VPN by opening the bitdefender dashboard and clicking on VPN.
Uninstall and reinstall your Bitdefender product (Bitdefender VPN).
