Re Bitdefender adverts.

I have recently purchased Bitdefender, whilst browsing the Internet I keep getting Bitdefender adverts popping up which is really annoying.

Is there a way to stop these ads especially as I already have Bitdender.

If someone can help would be much appreciated.

thanks

Just in case this article helps, otherwise the link is a more complete list that was compiled by @Gjoksi which hopefully still applies to all the settings.

Scott thanks for your reply but I can't find the settings menu on the left hand side of the interface.

All I can see is Bitdefender Central ,Dashboard ,My Devices ,Security ,VPN ,Parental Control and My Subs.

    Hi Dave,

What version of Bitdefender are you running? Also, if you've changed your display settings to much, can affect what you see as far as the BD UI. If needed, run a repair and see if that helps.

    Hi,

Just a few additions here, when you see pop-ups from the antivirus, these are usually usage recommendations or security-related events. As it can be noticed from @Scott's screenshot, there's also an option that displays special offers customized for you, for related Bitdefender product and services, and you can of course disable that as well, in the event you don't require it. Although this may come in handy when there are ongoing campaigns and also when the subscription/license is nearing its expiration date, since Bitdefender often provides generous renewal discounts.

The in-product recommendations are generated by the security software itself to guide you toward better security practices, fix detected issues, or enable specific protective features. They are mainly intended to improve your system’s security posture, rather than directly upsell you an unrelated product, so these don't fall into the advertising category, because they refer to features already included in the security suite you are using.

On the other hand, since you already use a Bitdefender antivirus, the special offers might be for related products that would further enhance your overall protection (like a Premium VPN or a Password Manager).

Going forward, in situations where pop-ups are requested to be disabled for various reasons, it's very important to know exactly what the respective notification looks like, what the message is and when it appears, in order to find out how it can be disabled, if possible of course, if it's not a critical notification pertaining to system security. Otherwise it's a guessing game, since the antivirus can display a variety of notifications depending on the context. 🙂

Okay, that's a start, you have Internet Security. It would be nice if you could post an image so we can better understand what you're seeing from your end. @Alexandru_BD @Flexx @Gjoksi could you level Dave up, so he can post an image (that still needs to be done?)

And just an aside, Dave, you can also verify what you're using and the build number by right clicking the Bitdefender system tray icon, About, which will bring up the information window.

    Hello Alexandru

I don't want to stop security notifications popping up just the general adverts about bitdender that seem to follow me.

Not sure where to find the tray icon

    Dave

  • @Davegg it's near the date and clock in the lower bar of your screen, to the right.

So, first tell me where are you looking for the settings, in the Central web, or in the Bitdefender user interface?
The options to disable the special offers and recommendation notifications are located in the Bitdefender product, under 'Settings'. Try to post a screenshot of what you're seeing there.

    Thanks

I thought there might be something in settings to enable me to turn off these adverts.

The build 27.0.46.231 14/01/2.25 this is what I'm looking at

    Hello.

You are looking at the Bitdefender Central website, not the Bitdefender Internet Security program interface.

So, you should open the Bitdefender Internet Security program on your device, not the Bitdefender Central website and follow the steps already provided by @Scott, @Alexandru_BD and @Flexx.

    Regards.

  • Indeed, you are looking at Bitdefender Central and not the actual Bitdefender user interface. Simply bring up Bitdefender to disable those notifications options, as highlighted previously.
