Kill Switch Enabled

*** Receiving VPN error: The Kill-Switch is currently protecting your privacy. For immediate access to the Internet please disable it ***

  1. The VPN connects successfully but after 3mins the connection will disconnect, it will always disconnect between the 3 to 4mins and the kill switch will activate.
  2. After a period of time Bitdefender VPN will attempt to re-connect and will successfully connect but after 3mins to 4mins the VPN will discconnect and will recieve the same error.

  4. Tried different VPN servers world wide and still experiences the same issue.

Fixes Tried
  1. Uninstalled the VPN client and reinstalled and still receive the same issue.
  2. Tested and confirmed port 443 is open and working as normal.
  3. Changed DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 receives the same issue
  4. Tested another VPN client on a different computer to rule out if the issue is on the Network or Host System, The other VPN client works successful and does not randomly disconnect.
  5. Revert his Computer back to Factory Defult settings apply windows updates and install Bitdefender VPN receives the same issue.
Fixes Still to Try
  1. Use the CMD commands:ipconfig /flushdns
    ipconfig /renew
    netsh winsock reset
    netsh int ip reset
Restart computer to apply the new changes
  2. Changing various options within the VPN client to see if it solves the issue.

If the above fixes will not fix the issue, we will have run out of all of our ideas to solve the issue and will wait for further announcements and fixes from the Bitdefender community.

  • !!!! ISSUE NOW SOLVED !!!!
    1. Changing various options within the VPN client to see if it solves the issue.

    In VPN Settings:

    • Toggled the Switch Regarding - Local Network: Allow access to devices on local network to (ON)

This was in the off possition and was the reason why I was receiving the Error and Disconnections.

I feel like I have cake on my faces, boy such a school boy error, forgot to look at the most obvious solution ahwell at least its fixed and all is Working :)

This may help others with Disconnection issues.

  • For those still having issues with connection issues remember you can use the Support Tool to log any issues so you can send to the Bitdefender technical department and they can take a look and see what is going on

You can find out more about the Support Tool by getting in-touch with the Support Team and creating a Ticket on your issue

    Good Luck 😎

  • If the (Local Network: Allow access to devices on local network) is set to (OFF) I take it, under normal circumstances it should not cause any connection issues.

I will have to test this theory on a different network to rule out if its a local system issue or network issue.

If it is a local issue I will have to install and test on a different machine to rule out if its the OS or VPN product its self

Unfortunately, I don't have another physical machine to test on, when I do get a hold of one I will test and update my results
