How to get Thunderbird working with BD?

I installed BD Total Security yesterday on WIN 11 with Thunderbird 128.8.1 esr. I can now neither send nor receive e-mails on the Thunderbird client. I have disabled the BD toolbar that appeared top right of the Thunderbird screen.

Any suggestions on how I can get Thunderbird to work again plse?

Try whitelisting thunderbird in the antivirus and advanced threat defense, otherwise I would try to disable each bitdefender component one by on to see which one is blocking thunderbird.

Thanks for the suggestion! Have now got Thunderbird working for non-gmail account (send and receive) and gmail account (only receive, cannot transmit). Waiting for BD technical support to get back with solution to the "gmail not sending" problem (other than disabling the Encrypted Web Sacn option, which solves the problem but is obviously not a permanent fix).
