Can't connect to VPN

Hello, in my case, I am not getting any erroe codes, but my VPN just cannot connect to any server anywhere. There's no problem with my phone or tablett, it's just my laptop that won't connect. Any ideas? It's starting to get annoying…

    Hi @joe.lee

Try changing the protocol of the VPN, go to "settings" then "advanced" then "protocol".

Otherwise change your DNS of whichever adaptor you use to connect to your modem/router to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 then reboot your PC and see if this works.

Let's try to do some troubleshooting here.

    1) Restart Everything:

    • Restart your laptop and router.
    • Try reconnecting to your Bitdefender VPN.

    2) Check Bitdefender Antimalware:

    • Temporarily disable the Bitdefender Firewall and try connecting to your Bitdefender VPN.
    • If the Bitdefender VPN works, add it as an exception in your Bitdefender Antimalware.

    SETTING EXCLUSION

    - Temporarily disable Bitdefender Protection: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/28557/

    - Set exclusions in Bitdefender Antivirus: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/13427/

    - Set exclusions in Bitdefender Advanced Threat Defense: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/2393/

    - Allow an app through Bitdefender Firewall: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/13425/

    - Re-enable real-time protection in Bitdefender

    3) Change Bitdefender VPN Protocol:

    • Switch between Automatic, OpenVPN, WireGuard, or IKEv2 in your Bitdefender VPN settings, as stated by @Petersl in the previous comment.

    4) Try Different Servers:

    • Switch between OpenVPN, WireGuard, or IKEv2 in your Bitdefender VPN settings, as stated by @Petersl in the previous comment.

    5) Flush DNS and Reset Network Stack:

    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    • Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter to flush the DNS cache.
    • Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
    • Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter.
    • Restart your laptop and try reconnecting to your Bitdefender VPN.

    6) Reinstall the Bitdefender VPN:

    • Uninstall your Bitdefender VPN.
    • Restart your laptop.
    • Reinstall the latest version of Bitdefender VPN.

    7) Check for Windows Updates:

    • Ensure your system is up to date by checking for pending Windows updates.

    Hello,

This should definitely reach the Support teams, I've never seen this error before, but it doesn't look right.

  • This is what I keep getting. I've re-started at least 20 times…

  • I can help you with a trial-and-error approach, but I need to ensure that you do not use any other Bitdefender product besides Bitdefender VPN. Using other Bitdefender products along with this approach will interfere with their functionality on your system.

  • That could prove to be a bit difficult, this is what I have. I'm gone for the next couple of hours, I'll try everything as soon as I get back. I can't even access the internet on my laptop, Phone & Tablett is the only way, there's no problem

  • Since the image shows that you already have another Bitdefender product installed, the trial-and-error approach won't work. In other words, as mentioned in the previous comment, it could interfere with the proper functioning of other Bitdefender products on your device. The best option here is to contact Bitdefender support, as there are no error codes available to diagnose the faulty behavior or reinstallation issues with Bitdefender VPN on your device.
