Boot to USB and scan

Hello,

I just acquired a used PC and would like to scan it with my Bitdefender prior to joining it to my home network. Is there a way for me to create a bootable USB with Bitdefender on it?

If not, what is the procedure for rendering this computer free from malware prior to joining it to my home network?

Thanks!!!

As of July 2020, Bitdefender discontinued its Rescue CD, which previously allowed users to create bootable media for malware scanning. The current solution is the Bitdefender Rescue Environment, which requires the Bitdefender product to be installed on a Windows device to access and utilize it.

For more information about the Bitdefender Rescue Environment, kindly refer to the link below.

Additionally, if you prefer not to connect your system to the network before scanning your device, the only available option is to utilize the built-in Windows Defender in your operating system. On a separate device, you can download the latest malware definition updates for Windows Defender from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/defenderupdates. After downloading the executable file for the malware definitions, transfer it to a USB flash drive. Then, copy the file to your system to update the Windows Defender malware database and perform a full system scan.
