App Lock not blocking notifications

I've got the Bitdefender App Lock set up to lock the "Messages" app on my Pixel 6 phone (the default app for SMS etc). The idea was that if my phone was snatched whilst unlocked, the thief couldn't receive SMS 2FA codes (as widely used by banks etc). However, this is undermined by the fact that when the phone is unlocked, message notifications can be expanded and the full message content viewed. Is there a way to block this using the app lock (or any other approach, short of fully disabling message notifications).

My preference would be that if an app is locked, it shouldn't be permitted to include content in notifications without unlocking.

To be clear, this is a final line of defence - message contents are not displayed on the lock screen and I've also enabled "snatch protection" which should lock the phone if it detects it has been snatched whilst unlocked.

You could try adjusting your notification settings for the Messages app to "Hide sensitive content" on the lock screen, which would prevent message previews. Some devices also have a "secure lock screen" feature that stops notifications from expanding unless unlocked. If that doesn’t work, disabling notifications entirely might be the best option.
