Can I turn off automatic scanning
"BD has detected a new device and will scan in the background". I use three external HDs for backup, connected to my desktop via USB. They are each 2 TB or more, so scanning takes forever. These HDs are powered on only on days I want a backup to run, so they are "new" on those days and the scanning process is annoying, putting my drives through a lot of unnecessary disk activity. Can I turn that off somehow? Is there a way to never scan drive letter "N"? Total Security build 27.0.49.254

Hi @Aortoiliac
Go to the "protection" tab, then "antivirus", then "settings" and there you should be able to turn off the autoscan for USB drives.

Thank you. I disabled all three items and now I can turn on my backup drives without any scan. That seems safe, since they never go anywhere and are always connected to just my desktop via wire, not wifi.
