Hey all,
I noticed a problem with the latest update of Bitdefender VPN, which also introduced WireGuard as a protocol. I have been all through the help files and not getting the support I need. I think there are bugs in this version, because VPN connection is just not as stable as it used to be.
There are issues with waking from sleep, there are issues with moving my laptop from one WiFi router to another, there are issues now even with a stable connection and nothing is changing.
Curiously, and for the last several years unrelated to this upgrade, Kill-Switch has not been working at all when VPN was off, in fact, even with that setting enabled, I toggle VPN off in order to get a web page to load or my email to connect to server.
However, when VPN is on, it might work for a little while, and then stops working, acting like Kill-Switch became enabled while VPN is ON. All traffic stops per VPN and there is no upload or download exchange of data per BD VPN console. All web pages appear to hang attempting to load a page, and request for email downloads also hang.
I am on the latest MacOS, I do use Lockdown Mode, I do have Little Snitch installed and do White List the connections to Bit Defender's Servers as best I can. Turning these things off does not seem to affect BD VPN behavior.
I have to toggle VPN to disconnect and reconnect multiple times per day while on a stable connection, including wired Eithernet, and I have to disconnect and reconnect EVERY time I move to a coffee shop and connect to a different WiFi router.
VPN should be router or connection agnostic, just like cell phones don't care which cell tower they are connected to. Why has this latest update to the software made automatic connectivity so unreliable?
