VPN preventing any internet traffic

I have a VPN Premium account. Auto-connect to best location. Kill-switch is turned off. If I boot up my computer and the VPN connects I can't connect to any internet sites. As soon as I turn the VPN off then I can surf and everything is fine. What is going on with the VPN blocking all my internet traffic? How do I diagnose and solve this. It is worthless right now as I am not protected when online since I can only be online when the VPN is off. This did always happen but I have not changed anything that I can tell or know of to cause this change. This has been happening for several months. I am on a Windows 11 Pro machine.
