My USB stick for DJing cannot be renamed, I want BitDefender to allow me to rename my drive as it was before, why did it do this and how I can I stop BD from doing this again.
This is weird. Bitdefender cannot stop you from renaming your USB/flash drive. I have promoted you to level 2. Can you share the screenshot where Bitdefender might be showing you a notification that it has blocked you from renaming your USB/flash drive?
Regards
I'm some areas of Windows explorer the name isn't visable, I used to be able to view it's name listing drives.

Additionally, here's the information I found on the web.
Can Drives Have the Same Name?
Yes, multiple drives can share the same name, known as a volume label. This label is simply a user-friendly identifier, like a nickname, to help you recognize the drive. For instance, you could have two USB drives both labeled "My Music," and Windows would distinguish them without issue. The operating system does not use the label for unique identification; instead, it relies on other mechanisms such as the drive letter (e.g., D: or E:), a unique volume serial number assigned during formatting, and a volume GUID path.
Can You Replace a Drive Letter with a Name?
No, you cannot replace a drive letter with a volume label. These are distinct identifiers serving different roles:
In practice, while identical labels are allowed, they can cause confusion for users even if the system handles them correctly. Drive letters can be reassigned via tools like Disk Management, but labels are managed separately.
According to Microsoft, as stated in the link below.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/disk-management/change-a-drive-letter
Just as an aside, I tried the USB drive in my friends Windows 10 laptop and it was the same, i.e not showing the drive label in explorer, quite an inconvience, akin to having your cars number-plate wiped, if you use a lot of removeable USB drives at the same time you won't appreciate this unalterable change. I didn't bother with your suggestion as inserting my removeable drive into my friends laptop told me all I needed to know. I got it back to normal by assigning a new drive letter then reformatting it using 'guiformat' needless to say I won't be immunising any more removable drives in the near future. Going forward might I suggest in lieu of a fix that a warning to the user is displayed before immunisation informing them that their removable drives label won't be seen again in any Windows explorer after that.
Thanks for your timely advise & help.
