Recently my HSBC banking app will not open saying that I have to remove Bitdefender as its a security risk to the app. Any solution?
It is possible that Bitdefender VPN or another VPN is connected on your device. If so, try disabling it and then open your HSBC banking app again. If Bitdefender VPN is already disabled, or if you don’t have the Bitdefender VPN app installed on your device, you will need to contact Bitdefender support for further assistance.
Kindly contact Bitdefender support by visiting https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/help/

Thanks, not the VPN it is the Bitdefender app itself, once removed could access HSBC. There are numerous posts from HSBC app users from multiple countries saying the same thing. Someone from Bitdefender needs to contact HSBC to have them stop blocking access
As stated above, you should contact Bitdefender Support regarding this.
Hi,
Most likely this happens because Mobile Security filters online traffic to make sure that the domains you are accessing are not exposed to online threats. To do this, Web Protection on iOS for example, relies on a local VPN configuration. However, this is not a traditional VPN that routes traffic through external servers for masking IP addresses. Instead, it creates a local VPN tunnel that enables Bitdefender to intercept and monitor network traffic on the device. Once enabled, the VPN profile allows Bitdefender to analyze the traffic data going in and out of your device. It checks for any potentially malicious websites, phishing attempts, and other threats by scanning the URLs before the content is loaded in your browser. And I'm guessing that HSBC probably flags this as suspicious behavior, or perhaps confuses it with VPN usage and this may be contrary to their policy. The irony is that they are blocking access due to security concerns when in fact an actual security solution is being used, so there is no real reason of concern… but each with their own policies and safety measures.
