Scan a Motorola mobile from a Laptop

Dear Sirs,

I have a Motorola mobile phone which is continually plagued by pop-up ads. I cannot download an anti-virus directly onto the phone, as the pop-ups keep blocking it before I can complete the instructions to download. When I clear the pop-up, it takes me back to the start of the setup every time.

Can you help with your anti-virus? I have a laptop; would it be possible to download an anti-virus onto the laptop and then scan the phone with an anti-virus from there?

Your advice would be appreciated.

You cannot scan your Android device from a computer using antimalware software in the same way you scan computer files. Antimalware software for computers is designed to scan computer storage and system files, not the internal system of an Android device. Therefore, it cannot reliably detect or remove malware from an Android device when connected via USB.
