Linux for home

I'm a long-time, very satisfied, Bitdefender client. I was using Bitdefender on both of my laptops and my wife's laptop and both of our Android devices.

However, I am no longer using Bitdefender on this laptop because I am running Linux as my daily driver. I hardly use the Windows laptop. Just now, I read that Bitdefender may have a version for Linux home users coming in 2026. All I expect to accomplish with this post is to add another voice to what, hopefully, is a growing body of support for a home version of Bitdefender for Linux. Thank you!

Can you confirm where you heard about the news that Bitdefender may develop a Linux product for their consumer product line in 2026?

There are no updates nor confirmation that Bitdefender will launch a Linux home version anytime soon.
However, research shows that Linux desktop market share reached 4.7% globally in 2025, marking a significant milestone for the open-source operating system. The United States crossed the 5% threshold for the first time in June 2025, while India leads major economies with a 16.21% adoption rate as of July 2024. The Linux operating system market, valued at $21.97 billion in 2024, is projected to grow to $99.69 billion by 2032 at a compound annual growth rate of 20.9%.

So, if Linux adoption continues to climb among home users, this might push security vendors to seriously consider exploring solutions to meet demand. For now, the topic has been parked and there are no news regarding any upcoming developments for Linux OS, except for VPN support and even here it is uncertain when development will start. Probably in 2026, but it's still too early to tell.
