Printer test pages not working – could Bitdefender be blocking them?

Hi everyone,

I recently noticed that my printer sometimes doesn’t respond when I try to print test pages or simple documents on my Windows PC. Everything works fine if I temporarily disable antivirus protection, so I’m wondering if Bitdefender might be interfering with the print jobs.

For context, the printers I’m using are connected via WiFi and I mainly use them for quick test pages or troubleshooting print quality.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Could it be related to firewall rules or antivirus scanning blocking certain printer processes?

Yeah, that definitely sounds like Bitdefender could be blocking or delaying print jobs—especially over WiFi. Its firewall or “Safe Files” feature can sometimes interfere with printer communication.

What worked for me was:

• Adding the printer software/process to Bitdefender exceptions
• Allowing printer IP in firewall settings
• Making sure spooler service isn’t being restricted

Also, I tested prints directly using https://printertestingpage.com/ and noticed it worked fine once exclusions were set—so it’s a good way to confirm whether the issue is security-related or printer-related 👍
