App Anomaly Detection keeps disabling itself automatically on Android

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with Bitdefender Mobile Security on my Android device where App Anomaly Detection repeatedly turns itself off.

Every time I toggle it back on, it stays active for a short while before automatically disabling itself without any error prompt or notification.

Hello,

Have you tried the following:
Settings → Apps → Bitdefender → Manage app if unused (not toggled, as it would prevent the Android OS from removing the BMS permissions)
Then go to Storage → Clear cache
→ Have all permissions set

Also you can try Mohsin89's suggestion.

If the problem persists, the following details would be required for further troubleshooting:

Device model, OS version, permissions, BMS app version plus any other apps that have accessibility permission set to ON

Also, I am noticing for a while that on Android, while it appears enabled, the count does not appear to be increasing when I would expect it to do so.

Is it possible that Android 17 may have some issue with actually toggling the settings?

The "manage app if unused" toggle is toggled off and greyed out. This is supposed to be the case when the Admin permission is given to Bitdefender. Once Admin is granted, Android should flip "battery usage" to unrestricted, grey out the permission, and do the same with the "manage app if unused" setting.

As a side note both Bitdefender Mobile Security and Bitdefender VPN have access to the "alarms and reminders" permission which is supposed to be equivalent to the unrestricted battery permission as if the battery is unrestricted Android should remove the "alarms and reminders" from the Android GUI for that application. However, I have noticed that the "alarms and reminders" permission is still visible on the Bitdefender app info page. Which may or may not be expected with Admin mode and good luck finding out either way, because I have looked for an answer. I think admin permission may be antiquated anyway.

I'm going to try setting up the required permissions manually and see if that works for me.

I am not sure what device that OP is using but I'm curious about the device and version of Android, unless it has been mentioned and I missed it, which is entirely possible. I don't recognize the font, but I think Samsung devices have additional fonts to download from the Samsung store. So I'm guessing it is a Samsung?

It seems I got it working again. I am not sure if it was manually setting the battery to unrestricted and toggling off the manage app if unused features before activating accessibility and admin privileges on a fresh install. I also toggled off every permission in scam protection pro→manage your protection, waited about 30 seconds before toggling them all back on.

Once I did get it working again, the count skyrocketed from 1 to about 70 on messages. My anomaly scan has also increased by one today.

Hello,

For Bitdefender Android, it's always best to set battery usage to "unrestricted."
When I began to use Bitdefender Android, this setting wasn't enabled, and web protection frequently disabled itself.
Since setting it to "unrestricted," nothing disables itself anymore.

I was not able to get anomaly detection working again for more than one count. I did a fresh install, set battery to unrestricted and then entered the mobile security app for the first time on that install and setup as normal.

It either isn't working more than a very short period or the items that I would use to trigger an anomaly scan don't work anymore. I have also tried the beta test and that had the same problem as the release.

While I use an iPhone, this issue has been persisting on Android for about a month. I’ve checked it regularly on my family members’ Android devices as well. However, I don’t think this is a major concern since it appears to be related to the behavior blocker rather than Bitdefender Mobile Security for Android main feature, which is cloud-based static scanning.

That said, if the feature is provided, it should still function properly. I’ve also shared the link to this Bitdefender Community forum thread with the Bitdefender Mobile Security support team so they can look into it.

As soon as I hear back from them, I’ll update everyone here.

I can confirm that updating to Bitdefender Mobile Security version 3.3.301.2560 has completely resolved this issue on my Android device. The feature now stays active as expected without automatically disabling itself.
