How To Completely Remove Bitdefender From Mac Os? Hogging All My Ram

Hi everyone,

I recently decided to uninstall Bitdefender for Mac because it was using literally all of the RAM on my 8GB RAM Macbook Pro 2012 edition. I ran the uninstaller, but I still have the "bdagentd" process running every time I boot up my computer. The process would eat up a gigabyte of memory when I'm not looking, and slow everything down to a halt. I am so sick of dealing with this issue especially since I need my computer for heavy graphics work every day.

If anyone knows how I could completely remove Bitdefender from my Mac, please let me know!!! This has been debilitating on my workflow and it's making me want to erase everything from my Mac and do a clean re-install of the OS.

Thanks Sorin, although I followed the instructions on that page multiple times and never got rid of Bitdefender completely. Thanks but that page is not helpful.

I ultimately figured it out by finding out where the last Bitdefender files remained and manually deleting them.

First I opened Activity Monitor, clicked the (i) on the top-left corner after selecting the bdagentd process, clicked "sample" in the pop-up that emerged, and found the location of the bdagentd process file. Opening Finder, CMD-SHFT-G, and pasting the location of the folder of the bdagentd file, I manually deleted the entire Bitdefender file that remained in the Macintosh Library folder (hidden).

Following this, I emptied the trashcan and now the process is no longer running.

Took me forever to figure this out but I think this should do the trick. I also deleted all the files containing "bitdefender" from my mac by doing a manual search in all of the Library folders.

Glad to hear that the situation has been resolved.

I would suggest booting the machine in Safe Mode to repair any faulty permissions as the uninstall tool should of done the job without any problems.
