unable to sign in with AV Free

I install AV Free on Windows 10 running on VMWare Fusion. Starting up there is a window asking me to sign in to Bit Defender. I can hover over the button and it goes from black to blue but does not respond when I click it. The settings gear at the top does not respond to a mouse click either. I can only close the window with the X.

Support was useless as they said they don't support the AV Free. I can understand long term support but not helping to get the product installed seems shortsighted.

Any suggestions other than not to run on Fusion?

try to log into Bitdefender center simply through the browser
