vipre problem

i have windows 7 and wanted to update my security. system had Vipre on it before. bit defender wanted me to uninstall Vipre first i did so but bit defender says it still on there. any suggestions???

Note: Vipre antivirus uses in house engine with additional bitdefender engine for detection of malware. That being said, kindly try the below steps to see if it helps.

1) Make sure you have deleted entire system of any vipre av files. Use the vipre av removal tool (http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/support/VIPRERemovalTool.exe)

2) Press Windows Key + R and type regedit ,click ok. Press Ctrl + F and type vipre and checkmark match whole strings only. Search whole registry for any vipre entry and delete. Continue searching registry and deleting vipre entries until find option shows up no registry entry/ no key found.

3) Restart PC in safe mode (https://kb.wisc.edu/helpdesk/page.php?id=39088)

4) As soon as desktop opens, assuming your windows drive is C, open below things in run (Windows icon + R) command one by one :

C:\Program Files (delete any folder with name vipre)

C:\Program Files (x86) (delete any folder with name vipre)

C:\ProgramData (delete any folder with name vipre)

C:\Users\{your pc name}\AppData\Local (delete any folder with name vipre)

5) Open run command again and run below command one by one :

temp ,delete all the files in the folder

%temp% ,delete all the files in folder

prefetch ,delete all the files in folder

6) Restart your PC in general mode by unticking the option that you selected to run the system in safe mode and then click apply.

7) Try reinstalling bitdefender product
