Are webm's vulnerable in the same way that webp's are?

Options

A malicious webp image can hack your system, just google it. Can a webm do that same?

Malicious WebM videos can hack your computer by running malicious code when you open the video file or by taking you to a malicious website that can download malware to your computer.

To protect yourself from malicious WebM videos, only download from trusted sources, be careful about opening videos from people you don't know, keep your software up to date, and use a security solution that can detect and block malicious WebM videos.

If you are concerned that you may have opened a malicious WebM video, run a full scan of your computer with bitdefender antimalware and change your passwords for any online accounts that you may have used while your computer was infected.

Here are some other tips to help you stay safe online:

    1) Be careful about what links you click on, even if they are in emails or messages from people you know.

    2) Don't open attachments from people you don't know.

    3) Be careful about what information you share online.

Can you link me to an article / paper / anything proving that malicious webm's can get access to a device? Or this more a vague "yeah, maybe there's a zero day for the webm file format that'll show up in the future idk"

The articles were collected from various sources on the internet to help provided you with proper solution. Taking solution from AI is not the correct way to provide solution.

The post has been closed for further comments as you have already been provided solution regarding your query. If you still need help kindly contact bitdefender support as stated earlier.

Also stop creating multiple post on the forum regarding your query. Doing that may lead to ban of your account on the forum. I have personally messaged you with keeping the admin @Alexandru_BD in the same. If you have issues, you can reply to that message.

How about you give me the CVE that will currently allow an attacker root access to a fully patched firefox, from simply watching (de-encoding) a webm. You won't be able to. My original question is "are webms vulnerable in the same way webps are". If you follow the news you'll see webp's can achieve root access from simply being viewed. I should have spelled things out, I made the mistake of thinking I was dealing with professionals.
