How to whitelist files on my computer

Hi - Bitdefender keeps deleting files that I want to keep. I've tried whitelisting them using steps on other discussion forums, but no luck.

I'm now running into issues with my computer that are stemming from the files bitdefender has deleted.

Looking for solutions to the following

1. How to whitelist files that are being deleted
2. How to change my settings so bitdefender asks first before deleting files

Can anyone help?
