Why does Bitdefender say I need to scan a new app when I haven't installed one?

Same problem here. Running on Pixel 7A. I can't say if it started when I upgraded to Android 14 or before. I get the message about once a day.

I have the same issue.
(It does seem related to the Android 14 update as all was good prior, with BD app version 3.3.217.2325 but still with the most recent update (3.3.217.2329) (post Android 14) the ERROR still occurs...daily.)
I did reach out to support a few days go via chat.
Last night I was told, via email to remove and then reinstall BD on the device.
I guess I will try that today.

Nothing to do with Android 14. I never upgraded and I am also getting this annoying message daily. I'd be surprised if reinstalling the software will work. It's a typical suggestion from low level support who don't have an answer.

AN email from BD a couple of days ago:
"...I have looked into the case and it seems that the situation is caused by an issue that has already been acknowledged by our development team. We are currently working on a fix that will be done by means of an automatic update and won't require any additional action on your end."

Just wanted to comment that this issue still exists. Hopefully the fix mentioned by 21Rouge comes soon.

I'm having the same issue on my new Pixel 8 with Android 14. I never had this on my Pixel 5. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it didn't fix the issue. This is a daily occurrence.

There is an ongoing investigation regarding this behavior and the developers have reproduction on Pixel 6 and 7 as well with Android 14 on different Mobile Security versions, 3.3.217.2322 and 3.3.217.2325. We are looking forward to a resolution.

Yesterday version 3.3.222.2346 was released for Android and it contains a couple of fixes, kindly check if the issue persists after updating the app. If the new build doesn't fix the behavior, then this means another hotfix will soon follow.

Yeah, we know it's still there and the developers are making continuous efforts to resolve this in good time. It has been observed that ater performing a scan (by pressing "Start Scan"), the notification disappears. Does this happen for you?

Yes. Once I select "Start Scan", the notification disappears (until the next day).

Oh dear here we go again. Same here on Pixel 7 android 14 beta, wanting to scan App I have just installed (not).
BD also has ongoing issues with Password Manager on Pixel phones.
Wouldnt you think BD would be ahead of the game??

A fix was recently attempted and by the looks of it, there is actually still work to be done on this bug. The problem is within the app/UX, not the detection engine, so it's not agozob's speciality @Flexx. 😔
I'm keeping an eye on the investigation and as soon as I have news, I'll post an update here.
I want to thank everyone for your patience, bear with us just a little bit longer as the developers will eventually get to the bottom of this.

This issue has unfortunately returned with update version 3.3.248.2458 for Android.
I have been receiving this message twice per day on my Pixel 6 Pro.
I will upload an image the next time it happens. Did not think of it before posting here.

I have just started having this issue about 3-4 days ago. I have a pixel 8a. I contacted BD via chat and no helpful solution. I just found this community and am concerned this problem seems to have been going on for awhile and still not fixed. ?????

My Pixel 8 Android 14 is running BD Mobile Ver. 3.3.248.2458. It's Sept 16, 2024 and I notice this issue was first reported here in Oct 2023. I'm beginning to get concerned, not so much because of the notice (delete and wait for tomorrow to delete again), because the app has been unfixable for so long. I would appreciate any input that may help.

Bitdefender only provides support for stable builds and not beta builds; therefore, support will not be available for beta OS versions.

To add here, some malicious apps have a tendency to go undetected and remain on the smartphone, hidden from the screen. Kindly install Revo Uninstaller Android app from
and check for any unknown apps that you are not aware of, and uninstall them.Additionally, you can install the VirusTotal Android app from https://play.google.com/store/search?q=virustotal&c=apps&hl=en_IN and run a scan to check if any apps are detected as malicious by the majority of other antimalware vendors, including Bitdefender. It may also help you identify any hidden apps that might be malicious and could have gone undetected by Bitdefender.

I am facing the same problem. Is this issue of frequent Malware scan alerts specific to Pixel mobiles?

Guessing it may just be pixels. Only had an issue since I moved the app over to my Pixel 9, was previously working without issue on my Pixel 8. Can confirm it's coming up once per day with no new apps installed.

Judging by the latest reports, this appears to be an issue which manifests itself mainly on Pixel phones, however, I cannot confirm 100% at this stage. Nevertheless, I appreciate everyone's feedback here, we are following the thread and the developers are comparing the information with the inquiries received by the Support teams as well, and they are pushing for a resolution.
