App lock ignores safe network

My app lock has worked for a long time. But yesterday it started locking apps and asking for the pin despite being at home with the same safe WiFi network.

The WiFi symbol is greyed out on the app lock page, but if I click on it, it shows the home WiFi listed as active and safe.

I haven't changed any WiFi settings on the phone or on the home WiFi.

Any ideas?

  • Hello @Patrober,

Based on your description of the situation encountered, I would recommend contacting the Technical Support Teams, as more information might be required to troubleshoot this. You can get in touch with the Bitdefender engineers by choosing one of the contact channels listed here:

  • hi

Thanks - I had raised a ticket on this issue. After doing the suggested uninstall/unregister/reinstall it persisted. They then said its a known issue and will be fixed in a future update.

  • Hi and thanks for following up on this. Good to know. 👍️

I've recently have a similar problem. I have a WiFi mesh network that is set as a trusted network. Recently Bitdefender activates the app lock when the connection changes from WiFi repeater. App lock shows the network still as trusted. Wasn't a problem before. Is there a known solution?

  • No fix as yet. They know the problem and supposedly will raise a fix in a future update, but no timescale given.

Raise a ticket so they know there are more of us with this issue.

  • The latest info from BD support:

"I have looked into the case and it seems that the situation is caused by an issue that has already been acknowledged by our development team. We are currently working on a fix that will be done by means of an automatic update and won't require any additional action on your end.
I will get back to you with an update regarding the fix as soon as we have one."

    To be continued 😉

  • Has anyone gotten an update on when this will be resolved. I'm having the same problem and it's driving me crazy. This used to be an issue that took forever to be resolved.

  • My ticket is still open.

  • On 6Nov I got this email from support:

    "Hello,

Thank you for your patience and I hope your day is going great!

I am happy to let you know that the issue you reported should be fixed in the latest version.
Please update Bitdefender Mobile Security and let us know if the issue persists."

I did not get any update, so I still have the problem.

  • I got the same update. No obvious update (shame they didnt tell me what the version number was).

It looks like its fixed, but for one banking app, when away from my home network, just hangs the app.
