Repeated versions of the same threats via Safari

Bitdefender detects and deletes the threats, is there a way of finding out who sends them?

Thank you very much for your expertise.

I had no idea it was so bad.

There are important documents in there, so I will have to take the computer to a specialist to clean it

    up I think.

Very appreciative of the time you have this issue.

If there are any and you think they should not be shared publicly, you can simply share the link to this post and drop a message to the forum admin, Alex, via PM. If they are related to the images you have already shared, then it's not a public matter.

  • Thank you for responding - if I post some of the details here, they may be public for all to view. Is that appropriate?

  • Hello, There were 9 threats last night: a few are shown below. They refer to a document with the date 1.9.20 it seems. These are similar threats 'with different names' but they mostly reference a document with the same date. There is a pattern, they appear after certain events that occur between some people. There has been a lengthy periof time without threats. It's important that I find the person sending them. I hope you can help in some way. Thank you for offering to do so.

  • I've sent another response detailing several of the threats, the one above gives the details from Bitdefender. with thanks.

It seems that the majority of your files in the folder "INBOX.mbox" are infected with malicious documents. If you don't have any important documents in the folder, you can try deleting all the files in it. Afterward, run a full scan using your Bitdefender product.

Before deleting the files manually, you can disable the real-time protection of your Bitdefender product and upload the document files to VirusTotal to see if other well-known antimalware vendors like ESET, Kaspersky, Symantec (Norton), Trend Micro, Avira, Avast/AVG also detect them as malicious. If not, the files might be incorrectly detected, possibly indicating a false positive from Bitdefender. In that case, you will need to share the files with the Bitdefender malware research team for reanalysis.

If you believe that a website or file has been incorrectly blocked by Bitdefender, you can share the details with our malware researchers by filling out the form at the link provided below:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/29358/

If the website or file is indeed incorrectly blocked, the detection will be removed within a maximum of 72 hours. However, if the detection still persists after 72 hours, please consider the website or file as malicious, as determined by our malware researchers, and the detection will remain.
