Android APK without googleplay

Can you purchase Bit Defender and install onto an android device without using googleplay.

I have numerous devices which are going to be pre-setup in a kiosk mode without being assigned or logged into a googleplay account.

I wish to manage these and remote update from a centralised system i.e. Bitdefender central, but need to install the antivirus using a downloaded apk. Can you advise if this is possible and direct to the applicable costs or contact to speak to.

  • Use a desktop or laptop, visit the link below, and purchase it directly from the Bitdefender website.

  • Unfortunately this does not work, Once you click the link it then forces you back to google play to sign in to be able to get the download.

You do not seem to be able to get the apk by itself, you keep getting forced back to the play store.

I am not wanting to setup multiple devices with a play account to add a centrally managed antivirus, it adds a large task to someone to do this.

Just want to install the apk, and manage centrally.

  • I am not sure that even if I provide you with the direct Bitdefender APK file, you won't still face issues. You see, even if you install the Bitdefender product using the APK, after successful installation, it will ask you to log into your Bitdefender Central account. If you don't have an available license in your Central account, the Bitdefender product will not work.

Now, let's suppose you have 5-10 free device slots for Total Security or Mobile Security (Total Security licenses can be used for any OS). In that case, you can use the APK on 5-10 devices, but no more than that. The main concern here is purchasing the Bitdefender product without using Google Play.

@Alexandru_BD, can you check on this issue?

  • Thanks for the thoughts and comments.

I have created a bitdefender central account and have so far bought a single mobile licence to test this.

At the moment it would only be a handful of devices 5-10 would suffice, however as things might grow it could easily become 30-40 devices if there is a good uptake in the first year. I would then be looking at an issue i.e. a customer removes/damages/stolen device, then this would need to be removed or to let lapse after the year is up.

I then have new issues with regards to renewal of licenses and ensuring that only the devices still being supported are updated so that Im not buying too many renewal licenses.

Hopefully Im not creating too big of a challenge with this train of thought.

I look forward to more replies on this

  • Hi,

As far as I know, the app can only be installed from the Google Play Store.

Here’s the method I used in the past to get the APK of a required file. First, install the Bitdefender product on your Android device from the Google Play Store, but don’t open it. Then, download another app called Super Backup & Restore ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts&hl=en_IN ) from the Google Play Store. Once installed, open it, click on 'Backup,' and you can create a backup of any Android app on your device. The APK will be stored on your device. By going into the app's settings, you can also change the path where you want to save your APK file.

  • @Flexx officially the app only supports downloads from the Play Store. Any other workarounds could affect how the app behaves. The thing is that certain features need Google Play services to work, so it's not just about installing the app. The Google Play Store flow is set there for a reason..
