webrts in brave and the chrome browsers
Brave does not entirely switch off dns , it provides an extra layer of protection for webrtc work out in this way :
is it enough ? or you like to suggest some additional security measures? chrome needs extension to disable webrtc , if i need to use an extension , which extension is considered as the most reliable and compatible ?
Which is more secure: uBlock Origin or IDM? Both extensions can access webpage data. Does Bitdefender offer sufficient protection in this context?

The Ad Guard extension has webrtc blocking, so it can be installed in Chrome. I tested it and it works, they do webRTC exposure tests.

Going forward, Google will soon remove MV2-based extensions from its Chrome Web Store. This means that the AdGuard AdBlocker (MV2) will be removed. Google has already started implementing MV3-based extensions in the Chrome Web Store, so you should install the AdGuard AdBlocker or AdGuard AdBlocker (MV3 Beta) along with AdGuard Extra for additional protection.
Kindly note that AdGuard Extra is not a standalone extension for blocking ads. It requires the main AdGuard extension (in this case, the MV3-based version) to function. Once installed with the respective extension, it provides additional protection against ads.
The following message has started appearing on almost all extensions currently based on MV2 in the Google Web Store.

I switched from AdBlock to uBlock Origin for its superior ad-blocking capabilities. Do both of these extensions offer default WebRTC protection? If either requires configuration to enable WebRTC blocking, please specify the steps.

uBlock Origin is an MV2-based extension, which will soon be discontinued. Therefore, you will need to switch to uBlock Origin Lite, as it is an MV3-based extension. Compared to uBlock Origin, uBlock Origin Lite will have fewer filters due to Google's new policy on how Chrome extensions will function.

The new AdGuard extension is compatible with V3:
I confirm that the AdGuard extension (V3) has protection for Webrtc which ublock Origin Lite does not have.

@Nunzio77, you are correct that the new AdGuard extension is MV3-based, similar to the experimental MV3 beta extension. However, there’s a significant limitation with all MV3-based extensions: they cannot block every ad, and you won’t be able to enable all the filters due to Google’s restrictions on the number of filters that can be used in an ad blocker.
As a result, you’ll need to manually review each category and select specific filters that you want to enable. At the same time, you must ensure that you do not exceed the filter limit. If you do, previously enabled filters may get disabled automatically.
Take a look at the image below from the AdGuard extension you shared for a better understanding of this limitation.
That being said, there is always an alternative. You can use the standalone AdGuard software for Windows (
), which does not have any limitations and bypasses the restrictions set by Google since it operates independently of browser extensions. You can download a 6-month free giveaway version from
. After the 6 months expire, you can simply uninstall the AdGuard software, create a new AdGuard account, and use the giveaway again. Just ensure that you always create a new AdGuard account for this purpose. For Android users, a similar giveaway is available for 3 months and can be downloaded from
The websites providing these links are safe. I had contacted AdGuard support in the past, and they confirmed that they have a partnership with 'comss.ru' to feature these giveaways.
Below are all the MV3-based ad blocker and privacy blocker extensions that I use on my web browsers:
- Ublock Lite:
- Ghostery:
- Privacy Badger:

As with any MV3-based extension, when the filter gets updated on their server, it is also updated in the extension database. There is no time confirmation, but you can contact their support for more information.

Hi! The info worth a lot but , This is a big price to block webrtc & adds 😜because using these extensions made my browser too slow. i think it ll be better to use brave with its default filters to block adds as its the fastest solution, if there ll not be any other way left, your recommended solutions ll be the last option. thx v much for the help.

Yep, Brave set on Block ads aggressively works great on my end, is all I need and am looking for. No surfing or slow loading webpage issues :) IMO, keep it simpler lighter and let the online threat prevention/protection also do its job.

With Brave you can sync Google services?

@Rock.87, AdGuard does slow down browsing, but it is not the only factor affecting your browsing speed. The number of extensions installed on your web browser, along with your CPU's RAM and processing speed, also play a significant role. This is why lightweight ad blockers and privacy blockers are the most effective choices. I use uBlock Origin Lite, uBlock Origin (with my own customized filters), Ghostery, and Privacy Badger as browser extensions in my Google Chrome web browser.
Moving forward, you may consider using either the Brave Web Browser or the Opera Web Browser, as both come with built-in ad blockers. However, their base engine remains Chromium (developed by Google), the same one used by Google Chrome.
@Nunzio77, this is the information I found on the web.
Brave has its own sync feature, Brave Sync, which operates independently of Google’s sync services. As a result, you cannot directly synchronize Brave browser data with your Google account. While you can import data from Google Chrome into Brave, this is a one-time transfer rather than continuous syncing.
Additionally, in January 2021, Google announced restrictions on third-party Chromium-based browsers, including Brave, preventing them from accessing certain private Chrome features such as Chrome Sync. This change took effect on March 15, 2021, blocking these browsers from syncing data with Google services.

Yes comrade u might ve enough resources to run those extensions , i ve Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1240 v5 @ 3.50GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.5GHz , 32 gb ddd3 memory & almost nothing installed on my NVMe drive, all drivers updated & 500 mbps bandwidth, i think it's not bad, but i still face extreme slow downs when i use those extensions, what could be the reason?
i only use bit anti tracker , ublock origin extensions. not much load.0 -
Haha, your system specs sound like they could launch a rocket, yet they're struggling with some web browser extensions? Maybe those web browser extensions are secretly planning a rebellion against your supercharged setup! It might be worth giving Bitdefender a shout-out for support—they might have some secret tech tricks up their sleeves to tame those rebellious web browser extensions.😄
Kindly contact Bitdefender support by visiting
Select, How to's & Troubleshooting Bitdefender products→Troubleshooting→I don't know→Contact Support→ You will get the option of chat, call or email.
To get immediate update, make use of the chat option. Bitdefender support may require logs and will assist you in generating them.
Also, ensure you do not have any ad-blocker or privacy-blocker extensions enabled, as they might prevent the chat window from appearing.
