Hello all,
On the dashboard of Bitdefender Central (Digital Identity Protection) i read that there are 5 data breaches. But on my mobile device nothing is mentioned… How come? Now, what's going on?
It's because Bitdefender Digital Identity Protection has a more advanced search algorithm than the Data Breach Checker in Bitdefender Mobile Security, allowing it to dig deeper into the web to check for data breaches.
You can also check for data breaches using the website https://haveibeenpwned.com/, which is one of the largest data breach repositories available online.
Regards
What a crazyness, so why is Bitdefender Digital Identity Protection not included with my yearly paid version of Bitdefender Mobile Security???
Bitdefender Digital Identity Protection is not part of Bitdefender Mobile Security and has never been. It is available either as a standalone product or as part of Bitdefender top-tier consumer protection suite, Bitdefender Ultimate Security.
Could you let us know where you found information suggesting that Bitdefender Digital Identity Protection is included with Bitdefender Mobile Security?
It seems obvious to me that if I install a paid version of Bitdefender Mobile Security, I am also protected against data leaks and/or informed about them. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and I have to read about it in capital red letters on the Bitdefender website. Worthless business. Then I will not recommend this app to anyone and I will look for another vendor.
Thanks for your time.
You need to understand that the Data Breach Checker in Bitdefender Mobile Security, via Account Privacy, is a focused feature for email breach checking. Bitdefender Digital Identity Protection, on the other hand, is a comprehensive, standalone service or part of the Bitdefender Ultimate Security suite, offering broad identity monitoring and suitable for users needing extensive protection.
Also, take a look at the image below to understand the differences between the Data Breach Checker in Bitdefender Mobile Security and Bitdefender Digital Identity Protection.
To add here, to my knowledge no service can actually protect against data leaks, because there is no way that you or anyone else can prevent a data breach from happening. However, you can decrease the chance of your information being misused by knowing what to do if your data is involved in a data breach. Like Flexx mentioned above, Account Privacy is a Mobile Security feature, while Digital Identity Protection is a standalone service more complex than a simple email address lookup/check. The Account Privacy feature in Bitdefender Mobile Security checks if your email account has been compromised in a data breach. On the other hand, Digital Identity Protection is a paid service which monitors your digital footprint. It offers Digital Footprint Visualization, Continuous Identity Monitoring, real-time alerts, and it gives you the tools to prevent account compromises.
Also, some Bitdefender security suites include both Mobile Protection (iOS & Android) and Digital Identity Protection paired with an antivirus for your PC/laptop at reasonable prices, if this is what you're looking for. 🙂
Simple question, to keep it short: Why did I have to read that by chance when reading on the Bitdefender Central website? Otherwise I would never have known! Why didn't I get a notification about that in the app on my phone???
Where exactly did you read this information in Central? Can you attach a screenshot displaying the section where this message was displayed? I'm trying to figure out what is the source of this notification and what services you are using, so I can respond further.
Thanks
See attachment.
Thank you.
Ok, so you do have Digital Identity Protection after all. 🙂
However, its notifications are only available in Central and not in Mobile Security, because this is a separate service which is set and managed directly from Central.
How sad! So I have to log in to Central every time to see if I've been involved in any data breaches. Great! Hey, I have BITD. MOBILE SECURITY on my phone, and I want to see all the reports there. And I don't want to log in to a different website every time to check if my email address hasn't been misused! What a useless feature of BITD.
