Okay, so its a new engine. Can you also tell me what improvements will the new engine bring apart from better unpack support and improved scan speed? Edit: Florin, please check your PM in a few minutes
-
Well, basically saying, the BD engine and program are different from each other IMO. For example we can see the latest engine version is still 7.1. The new program versions only added support for additional databases, i.e. rootkit detection etc. Don't know about version 11 but Florin's comments sound very darn interesting!

Its currently 7PM here, I assume its about 4:30 PM there at Romania. I expect it will be launched in another six hours from now, but this is just speculation, provided the beta hasn't been delayed even further....

Why would NSIS be detected by BitDefender as Zlob, unless BitDefender had added only a signature for the NSIS packed version of Zlob and not for the unpacked version?

Best viruses? Since you are talking only viruses I'll say Win32/Polipos

The name will of course be the same, it will still be called BitDefender (but there is a running joke among my friends who call it ButtDefender because it "saved their butts" i.e. saved them from malware many times---> no offense intended towards BitDefender staff, please take it as a joke) As for BitDefender 11, it will…

Even if the problem came only after the latest update, one cannot just blame BD for it. Maybe BitDefender changed the GUi render method/added something to the GUI with the update and the graphics card driver is unable to handle that properly, then also such things may happen...

There's no need to say at all that there is "no need to thank me". "It was my pleasure" or "it was a pleasure to help/serve you" serves the purpose well enough and delivers the required message.

Hello Today I received 2 more samples. Both are detected by AVG and Kaspersky, but I'm not sure if other AVs detect it as well. BitDefender seems to not be detecting anything in these 2 files though. From initial look it appears like it is some spyware/rootkit component. Please analyse it and add signatures as necessary.…

A question: Why doesn't BitDefender (or any other application that does not support 64-bit OS) run on Windows XP x64 and Windows Vista x64 via the WOW64 interface which would allow 32-bit applications to run in a 64-bit OS? I was just wondering...

Speaking purely from performance point of view, basically new graphics drivers are released only for the following reasons: - To fix bugs with Computer Aided Design applications (e.g. AutoCAD) - To fix some specific issues with certain monitors - To fix bugs or performance problems with games - Improved video acceleration…

I also have a ATI Radeon 9250 Series (on AGP), with a driver version 6.14.0010.6614. I don't have any problems. It might be related, somehow, to the fact Jaka is using a PCI Express video card? Cris. Possible, but unlikely because 2D graphics do not really depend much on the PCI-e bus. Also, if that was at fault, then…

A simple test to find out for sure: If your documents are corrupted, they will not open with MS Office or any other application. So here's what you do: 1) Click "Start" on the taskbar 2) In the Start menu, click on the option that says "Run..." 3) Now a small window will pop up, and there will be some space where you can…

I have seen similar problems happening with other AV programs (NOD32). The reason is a bug in the display drivers with how GDI+ is handled. Such GUI issues are usually OS-specific, i.e. they probably won't happen with Vista if they do with XP. Such issues can affect even only specific families of graphics cards. Niels,…

@Cris: Okay, I'll check it tomorrow again. But I think Jotti's is updated hourly. For BD staff, there is another sample I want you to analyse if possible. This one is only suspect, I do not know if it is really malware. Password is the same as before ("infected" without the quotes)…
-
Are you sure? BitDefender at Jotti's is not picking up any of the two files.

I have an NVIDIA graphics card (GeForce 6800 GT), and I didn't see any such problem with the GUI when I was using it (right now its uninstalled for a small while). It is possible that it may be related to a specific family of NVIDIA graphics card. I am also running Windows XP Home Edition.

Hello, Since you are infected with a variant of the Swizzor trojan, I advise you to follow the steps for removal of this malware from your computer which is described in the below links: http://www.spywareremove.com/removeSwizzor.html http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_136491.htm The first link also offers a downloadable…

Also, I remember that this error with rootkit scan was something that happened while using one of the initial release builds of BitDefender 10 back from 2006. AFAIK it was fixed, are you using the latest BitDefender 10.2 installation package?

For that matter, I would definitely want that offer to be on for a long time
-
Alright, thanks for the reply Florin. But how long will the 2-year, 2 user offer last (so I can benefit from the upgrade while the offer lasts)?
-
Well, doesn't look like this thread has any value here.....
