You might consider switching the technician first. I agree. Kieran

Download a Copy of Puppy Linux for www.distrowatch.com as for a Non Linux User it's not going to ask you for Passwords and all that crap like say Ubuntu will. All you need to do is burn the iso of Puppy Linux you just downloaded with a friends PC burn it as an iso or it won't work and place it in the infected PC DVD Drive.…

Am just wondering if I should have got more than a 6 month extension, seeing as, in addition to my own little problems, I spent ages on the phone helping out a friend, who was running BullGuard. I don't know, life just doesn't seem fair. Kieran
-
If you already received the confirmation email, the change should be a matter of hours. Anyways, we'll still be here or just drop us an email for more clarifications. Thank you, subscription successfully extended by 6 months. Now, who at BitDefender is going to tackle the "BitDefender services are not responding..." issue…

After replying to the email with my key, how long can I expect to wait before the change reflects on my account/subscription? Same here, I have sent my existing license key, and got another email, but I don't see anything happening on my license, which has 25 days left. Guess it's wait and see time... Kieran

Have received and replied to an email offering me a 6 month license extension. That's good enough for me, although I'd have gone with the T-shirt if one was available. Kieran

Wow. I actually want one of those shirts!! I'm not kidding either! Me too! An excellent idea, and BitDefender should promote it, after all, all publicity is good publicity! Any graphic artists or whatever come up with a design? Something with the BitDefender logo (red or grey, your choice), something that makes reference…

you are so pathetic. kill yourself Good effort for a first post. Maybe a course in creative writing?

From the other threads here I come to the conclusion that the BD team is not well equipped and/or does not take technical support seriously. Apparently a lot of problems such as greying of the icons and BD disappearing from the tray still exists. I will take a decision soon... For what it's worth, I consider these problems…

Have just read back through this complete thread, and it seems clear to me that there isn't going to be a solution to this problem. Somewhere deep inside BitDefender, there is some shoddy coding that lacks resilience, and it needs changing. Seems very little point blaming spyware and AV software from other companies for…

It would be nice to think that they were looking at solving this problem, seeing as it isn't just going to disappear. I am fed up of running diagnostic tools and submitting logs. I cannot believe they are unable to reproduce the problem in-house. Unless it gets fixed, I'm not renewing my licenses. It's just so... amateur.…

Like when you watch "The Ring" and then you hear a phone ringing. No, like when you see a BitDefender update being downloaded The Register has picked this up, and there is an official BitDefender apology in one of the comments on the article: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/03/22/bi...r_dodgy_update/ Kieran

I request you to read my post carefully. I did not say that there are legal grounds for this. Backup or no backup there has been a mistake from Bitdefender and expect people to have moral responsibility at least. I also acknowledge that this is a human error and it could happen to any software or product but it should not…
-
I'd say it's the same as if a virus infected your PC that Bitdefender did not catch. They would still say they are not to blame. Of course. You find me a supplier of AV software that *legally* guarantees the ability to detect and nullify viruses, and I'll buy their software. That's until they go out of business as a result…
-
He didn't have a backup for whatever reasons, his choice. So that clears Bitdefender of the attrocities it has committed? What you can do is to blame the customers for installing your product I would imagine you will find that the BitDefender licensing terms and conditions exclude responsibility for any damage to your PC…

There's a lot of stuff here, and, of course, everyone's got an opinion. So here's my one. As a software developer of many many years experience, I think, without any pretence of modesty, that I am confident enough to comment, and not really worry about what people think of my comments! In other words, this isn't an ego…

Ah, I see that the 'litigation happy' sense an opportunity. Makes me sick. I say go ahead and try. You'll end up looking like fools. Kieran

Me and a lot of other peaple! I still to have black screen , and cant repair , cant use safe mode! Tny BD for destroy my pc. If you can't get Windows to repair itself from the installation CD, you need to make a judgement as to whether you have data on the PC you need to get back. If you need access to the data, then you…

Without a CD drive that works and without the ability to restore XP what is left? Randy You can't be sure the CD drive is failing. Are you using a desktop? If so, and you are safe with tinkering, you need to open up the cse, and temporarily replace the CD drive with one from another machine that you know is working. It's…

When I say "lost", is the fact that those computers aren't chea.p at all.I lost my office work and personnal datas, and finally my computers wouldn't reinstall Windows and now they won't turn on again, I just feel like I'm gonna have a hard time at the office, but I can still get some of my work back I know that. (Sloppy…

As you wish now, but seriously, I lost more than 3200$ for my three computers. How can you have *lost* $3200? What you lose is your time, and, maybe, some data. It's not as if BitDefender has destroyed your hardware. Just reinstall Windows. If you think you've lost that masterpiece of a novel you've been writing over the…

Conspiracy Theory. I saw the aliens on the grassy knoll in the Bermuda Triangle on the moon with the CD containing all the virus signatures, and the shadows didn't look right. Someone screwed up (likely), or an automated QA process didn't work (just as likely). What certainly isn't likely is industrial sabotage. The cost…

I think acceptable compensation would be solving the dumb 'BitDefender Services are not responding' problem that never seems to go away for long. More importantly, I am a little bemused as to why BitDefender does not make special allowances for: -- Finding 'problems' with it's own component files. -- Finding problems with…

It did the same to me on both laptops I have bit defender installed on. One is back up sort of by restore point, the other won't even do that. The one that is up is not working right....this is not the first time bit defender has done this to my machines.....not cool Yes, seems like a large-scale problem. Just had a phone…

Hello riptorn, I have sent you a personal message with the link to a ****** that should help you overcome this issue. Let us know if the same sittuation occurred after that . Thank you . I could do with that as well. I have to have the scan activity bar on the screen, as the icon doesn't always load into the system tray. I…

You can add me to the list of people experiencing a lockup when updating. Only solution is a reboot. Oh, and I upgraded to 2010 from 2009 on the advice of tech support, who obviously thought it would cure the bitdefender services not responding issue. Well, got my first one of those today on 2010. Aaaagh,l!
