  • Thanks. I appreciate your fan boy responses, but these issues are not about the infinite configurations of people's computers, nor the dark arts of heuristics and threat identification. The problems with settings not being held by an application are almost always due to quality control and testing issues. In my experience…
  • The bug was fixed and now there's another. While I take your points, it's quite tiresome to have to go through the reporting process for bugs with the application which, imho, should have been spotted during QC testing.
  • It's another bug, according to BF support. Similar to the one which reset AV scan settings after every boot and BF update. Tiresome. One expects a certain number of issues with heuristics and the odd false positive, but these recent issues have been all to do with functionality of the product.
  • Thanks Phil.
  • @Alexandru_BD Thanks again for the reply. Aurora was always working as expected. It's Bitdefender's detection that's in question! I added Aurora as an exception but it was the behaviour that Bitdefender flagged, not the actual .exe In fact, Bitdefender also flagged up a couple of Windows systems processes. I was copying…
  • One of the issues with scan that I have had is that when (if) scheduled scans run, the Notifcations page of the UI doesn’t record the fact.
  • @Alexandru_BD Thanks for at least trying to clarify the issue. ”the task at hand is no longer related to your initial query” What does that mean? All I was expecting was a yes/no answer (i.e. it’s a false positive or not). When I refer to “customer service” I mean the responsiveness and thoroughness of a company’s dealings…
  • Exactly the same pattern here. Let's hope they catch up soon!
  • 140 days remaining on my subscription. There’s a very good chance that it will end before these issues are solved. It’s not great customer service is it? The customer has to chase for an update on what may be a serious issue. My faith in Bitdefender and its products is virtually nil at the moment.
  • According to ‘support’ the issues are known by the development team and they will let me know when they have a fix. Last time I had that response they sent me ‘updates’ to say they were still working on it for about six months. Then the updates stopped and the fix never appeared (that was about scheduled scans not running…
  • I wish it were the only issue I’ve had over the years, but sadly in my experience it has always been flaky. I submitted files for troubleshooting yesterday. They usually pick out a single reg entry as the reason why their software doesn’t work and then close the ticket.
  • I suspect that my current subscription for Bitdefender will have expired and I will have switched to another AV provider before I get any response to the file I submitted 26 days ago. It seems that Bitdefender has gone that way of many other AV companies: As the primary product becomes increasingly bloated and…
  • Second Re-installation of the day. This time with the manual removal of the files and folders that the Bitdefender Uninstall tool fails to remove. No change. I can only think that the 5 star reviews from "expert" reviewers come from a short time of analysis, and not wrangling with the poor interface and shoddy logging.…
  • Just to update this before I have to go and do some work rather than faffing about with a paid-for utility that's supposed to just do its job. Setting "Scan CD and DVD" to "Disabled" reverts to "Ask..." after every reboot. Setting a schedule to the default Scans (Quick and Full). Settings not available after reboot, but…
  • Useless. Scans run but aren't registered in the UI. Or, scheduled scans don't run at all. What is this company's issue with transparency? Give users the path to follow to the full logs (if they exist) rather than the useless UI "Notifications" page. FFS this is a paid for product, not some homebrew open source freeware.…
  • Just to add for the fun, 3 minutes after re-installing Bitdefender from the download page, Bitdefender pops up with a notification to tell me it needs updating! WTF do you offer out of date versions on your update page? Naturally the "update" didn't solve any problem. Ticket opened with "support" and looking forward to…
  • I've just tried the only remedy that "support" ever offers. Re-installed. For the avoidance of doubt: Uninstalled from Windows Uninstall Reboot. Ran Bitdefender's own uninstall tool for good measure. Reboot Log in to Bitdefender Central Download Bitdefender Total Security Install TS as Administrator. Full Scan Changed…
  • A quick reboot reveals that Bitdefender is resetting all of my settings after every reboot. Bitdefender runs a Quick Scan on start up in the foreground even though I have NO custom scans set up. Tedious and a waste of my time.
  • 22 days later. Not heard anything at all about the file I submitted. What;s the usual timeline for this kind of thing?
  • Thanks for the reply and the promotion. It still remains that when I submitted the form using Edge, then the form wasn’t submitted at all, but at least now I know that this is an issue.
  • Thanks for your reply. I did Submit the form. My browser remember all the answers I put in the other day. I just repeated the process. When I click the Submit button, the form just refreshes to blank. No error or confirmation. That was using Edge browser. I just repeated the same using the Chrome browser and the same…
  • Thanks for your reply. It has been less than 72 hours since I reported the issue to Bitdefender, so I shall wait and see.
  • Thankfully you’re never stuck with the auto renewal price. For some reason any price offered by Bitdefender in the app or from support is always much higher than one can from other distributors. Stop the app from auto renewing and have a look on Amazon, for example.

  • @Flexx Thank you. I should add that I scanned the file with HitmanPro, MalwareBytes and VirusTotal before I submitted the false positive.
  • In case someone searches for the same or similar issue: I uninstalled BD using the Bitdefender uninstall tool for my product (Total Security). Reboot Used CCleaner Registry clean to remove all entries related to BD Reboot Installed BD Reboot The booting into black screen issue is fixed. To be fair Bitdefender support did…
  • Thanks for the input. The company turned 2fa on without my knowing. i have just set up authy on my account. I can get in on my iapd but not my pc. The pc is still sending emails f or 2fa.
  • Why do you force 2fa on accounts and send the verification by email, but offer no other 2fa options? Your mailimg system is too slow and email isn’t the most secure method, is it?
  • This is hilarious! I just started to submit a support ticket (I don’t hold out any hope for a resolution. I use the support tool to create the support log. I try to attach the support log to the ticket. The file size of the file that the support tool created is 726MB. The maximum file size allowed by the ticketing system…
  • I made the huge mistake last week of renewing my Bitdefender licence (not at the vastly inflated ‘special price for existing customers’ thankfully.) Windows told me that Bitdefender needed updating yesterday (Bitdefender never tells me, nor has it ever ever updated itself automatically.) Today I boot up and black screen.…
