  • same issue here although i have Protection Level set to Report. anyway firewall works when i uncheck Enable Internet Connection Sharing in Advanced Settings. but then other PC's in my home network have no internet access, so i have to go Netwotk tab and set Stealth Mode to Off. only this configuration makes firewall…
  • for password encrypted files switch to Expert Mode -> Antivirus section -> Virus Scan tab there choose the task (Deep Sysytem Scan or System Scan or whatever) and click Properties icon on the left. in the Properties window Overview tab click Custom button, and scroll down to Encrypted Files Action Options. at the very…
  • you may try this - in Expert Mode go to Antivirus section and click Advanced Settings button Active Virus control should be enabled so make it Medium Level if it's Agressive or Critical check "Alert me before taking an action" at the bottom also you may add some *.exe files you're sure they're clean into Exclusion list in…
  • I am running Vista Home Premium 32 everything on my computer has slowed down to the point that I can no longer use the computer. A very good Dell XPS Laptop With 4 GIG of RAM and dual processors. I have to go to work and type this post. It happened right after install. I canged the updating time from 1 hour to every 5…
  • AntiPhishing either on or off makes no difference here. but I'm on XP SP2 so that might make a diff... check whether you have Scan web (http) traffic on or off. if it's on set it to off. Expert mode -> Antivirus section -> Custom level -> there you'll find an option...
  • however in contextual scan when i tell it to disinfect the file it deletes it if it can not disinfect. why is it that bdts does not ask me for a second option if it cannot disinfect and is there a way to get it to either ask me for another option if disinfection fails such us to quarantine the file this i don't know. looks…
  • so you're both saying that the last product update screwed BD again? why is it that literally every major update brings issues again and again? anyway good for me i never install product updates (i do just vir definitions) until i'm sure it won't break things up. or i do a ghost image of my hdd before trying an update. and…
  • hmm... problem here is that BDIS 2010 restarts every time shortly after OS (XP SP2 32bit) has started or restarted. it happens just one time and then BD seems to be working fine once restarted itself. BDIS v13.0.18.345
  • set all actions to "deny access and continue". BD will not allow infected/suspected file to run/access but will leave it alone at the same time. then you can decide yourself what to do with that file - delete or run BD contextual scan. then if you still want to choose an action in contextual scan, set "take no action" in…
  • I will never understand why BD forces updates for the program itself too when they could leave program updates optional ,to avoid issues. One update may fix something for some and brake for others.Theoretically a final product should not need fixes it should simply work ,updates should enhance the product . in fact you can.…
  • for some reason i don't have any pop-up about scanning incoming emails, and have no idea why. but i got pop-ups saying BD scans outgoing emails. both options are enabled.
  • Yes, it does use this method, and it's a tricky one allright. When I was cancelling my "renewal" a year ago (for BDIS2009 at that time) it wasn't easy at all. I remember I had to send 3 or 4 e-mails to make sure my credit card won't be charged any money automatically when subscription expires. Unfortunately I don't…
  • you cannot. it's so because of self-protecting module of BD engine that prevents any software or user to stop it entirely. you may however disable real-time protection (expert mode, antivirus section, shield tab) or active virus control (same tab, advanced settings button)
  • same was here. when i wanted to see a history, i could only look at the code with dreamweaver opened by BD. eventually i manually fixed this glitch by assigning IE as a default to open xml files.
  • did you guys try Sandboxie 3.38? I have this version and no issues like yours.
  • Users who still have problems after un/reinstalling BD might suffer lots of garbage left after uninstalling this proggy. Believe me it's quite a number of registry entries that are not swept off by the uninstall tool. Additionally major product updates put more new entries into registry and they might be left too. It's…
  • download and install bitdefender_internetsecurity_2010_64b.exe from that site which is 141mb and it's a full 64bit setup package. from your post I assume you have BDIS installed but you're not quite sure if it's 64bit or 32bit, yes? I might be mistaken but when you install 32bit application on 64bit OS, it's being…
  • Nikilet: that's odd what's happening on your side. I checked updates today at 2:30 PM and got prompted with both, virus and product updates. Seems like all works here like it should. Boathouse: good to hear your problems are partially solved. Hopefully we'll be provided with a properly fixed update soon.
  • Unfortunately I have been unable to install on older version of BD2010 as the install goes and grabs the latest version from the internet and I don't have an old BDIS.msi on my system. I toyed with the idea of doing a system restore to pre 1st Nov when I think the update was posted but chickened out and reinstalled BD2009…
  • here: http://download.bitdefender.com/windows/de...y/final/en/x64/
  • My guess is BD team rushed up with the new version so much they wouldn't test the product properly. Did you notice that v2010 of BD was the first new release of all major products of its kind? NIS 2010 for example was released later. This makes me think BD team really wanted to be the first ones on the market. Shame that…
  • checked that too couldn't find Internet Security though

  • I am told that in spite of these new update settings, eventually I will be forced to install this major update. Do you know if that's true? Just wondering. In any event I'm still glad for the fix and I will be setting frequent restore points during the time I'm on my computer so that if this update installs without my…
  • Hi fungus, Yes we're struggling here the hard way, especially now after a major product update which messes the system up like... I think I know what product you mean... 5 mins setup and no rebooting, and the name starts with N... hmm... And I assume it has a nice looking GUI, right? Black with yellow...? I've been there…
  • sorry to say, but you're one of many victims of the last product update, and reading many comments about this problem there's no solution yet. i could restore my system thanks to norton ghost but other ppl who don't have this possibility just have to either reinstall the program or wait for a fix that BD team is hopefully…
  • ... the experiment didn't work so they're scared of furious lab rats...
  • Nikilet, read my last post in this thread that explains how to update manually in a safe fashion, so to speak. Again, virus definitions are safe to update - they don't mess with program and system. But product updates is a different story - be careful. Regarding going back to v2009 - it's hard for me to recommend anything…
  • And of course, there's the Scan Activity Bar showing up on every re-start in spite of my having it unchecked in the General Settings menu. This is fixed by checking and unchecking it, but it is still annoying to have to do this every time I start or re-start. Is this Scan Activity Bar useful - or even necessary? I find it…
