I also had trouble with bitdefender after upgrading to win 10. re-installed and seems ok now..., avast refused to install at all !, M$ is pushing windows defender by default, and seems to be giving some AV co.s a hard time.

boot times are not as bad for me, at least on 1 laptop, about 1:15, about the same as avast. am running bis or bts on 2 laptops and 1 desktop. 2 consistently have 200 mb vsserve.exe in processes, and one laptop w/ windows 7, 32 bit handles this problem the best at around 80 mb. only firefox uses more.........my only gripe…

I disabled boot scan and comp was unusable until I reenabled it.

I usually make breakfast while it's booting.
-
I only see it for a second at boot, never when opening a media player.

well desktop is now booting in about 30-40 secs, so probably not bitdefender on that. still consuming 200,000k ram, even when idle, though. machine runs normal, 2 gbs ram...

Since updating to BIS, or shortly thereafter, I have over 1.5 min. boot times. This is much slower than normal. Checking task mgr, I see vsserve.exe consuming 200+ mbs of ram, and as someone just stated, it can't be killed in task manager. Other than the slooooooooooow boot,(if it's the cause, not sure yet) it's not a…

running BitDefender Internet Security 2015, right now vsserv.exe is consuming between 200,000k- 300,000k in processes, and boot time is considerably slower. only firefox consumes this much ram on my older desktop. once it boot_s machine runs normally....

happened on my win 7 laptop = uninstalled does not happen on xp desktop, i.e. normal boot time.

Have an old dell laptop, from ebay. I beta tested ESET and it destroyed the hard drive that came w/ it. I had another hdd from a dell I put in there, and it's worked ever since, w/ avast. I recently installed bitdefender IS on it, and it was very slow to boot, and programs/ browsers performed poor, as I said it's old and…

Maybe he doesn't want his contextual menus so cluttered. I have too many options mysel,f I sometimes tire of sifting through them all, WINrar, especially, with like, 4 or 5 entries.

Odd thing is, I have bitdefender IS on my HP desktop too, 32 bit / xp, 2 GB ram, and it is in every way comparable to avast in terms of speed, booting, scanning, and functionality...

I only use mbam free, and use it less and less, as avast is pretty effective on it's own, haven't had any viruses in years.

after bootup, (I only use firefox), firefox is very slow- won't open. Maybe bitdefender is updating, dunno, only been using for a few days. Few to many min. after boot firefox is relatively normal, but windows and many other programs freeze or are sluggish. am srsly thinking about uninstalling and going back to avast.…

Depends. Do you have any other system booting programs? It could just be a coincidence. I have the same slow boot times, but it isn't because of Bitdefender. I have Alcohol 120% installed and set to load the Virtual Drives at system boot. This causes the 25 second delay for me. After unchecking the option to mount Virtual…

I joined specifically because; I am experiencing this issue with BIS, just installed recently. Been using avast on 4 pc's, 1 desk top,+ 3 laptops, and never had booting nearly this slow, on my win 7 laptop. (It boot_s up relatively fast on my desktop w/ xp...) it's at least a full 25-30 seconds of black screen, before…
