Can Bd Total Sec 2013 Coexist W Malawarebytes?

I'm using BDTS 2013. I have no complaints, but would like to install MalawareBytes as a secondary line of defense.

Can BDTS coexist w the MalawareBytes Free (which is an on-demad scanner, as far as I can tell)?

How about MalawareBytes Pro, which includes on-access scanning? Can that be used along w BDTS?

Usually no. And this goes for other security suites also, such as Avira Internet Security as well as avast! Internet Security. Usually the "Real Time Protection" of two different antivirus vendors like to fight with each other, but seeing how the free version of Malwarbytes doesn't have real-time protection, I'd say give it a shot if you really want. If you're thinking about going with the PRO version of Malwarebytes, don't because the real-time protection will probably fight with Bitdefender's.

I run Malwarebytes (free) with BDTS and run scans periodically as a backup without any problems.

I am running Bitdefender Total Security and Malwarebytes Pro without any problems. I did set up exclusions for one another.

Edit: Re the above post I also ran Avast and MBAM without issues.

Which list of files do you exclude in each scanner?

How do you determine the files to exclude?

BD: GUI>Settings>Antivirus settings>exclusions>exclusions for files(may need to turn on)>add.

Browse for the files shown in the attachment. I am not certain if the last two are needed but I added them to be safe.

MBAM: GUI>Ignore list tab> add C/Programfiles/Bitdefender

Clarification: Note that I did not say specifically that avast! and Malwarebytes Pro were incompatible. I said that the real-time protection of different antivirus vendors were usually incompatible. I just used avast! as an example of an antivirus vendor.

Now, there is much truth to this. That's why Bitdefender scans your computer for other antivirus software before installation and disables them. Other companies do this too.

I installed BTS and it didn't remove or disable MBAM Pro, why should it, it isn't an AV program.

I only use mbam free, and use it less and less, as avast is pretty effective on it's own, haven't had any viruses in years.

I agree, I have had MBAM pick up a couple of PUPs that were not detected by BD TS and apart from that I only scan about once a week (or when I remember ) with MBAM.

MB Free version scan and find virus.. After MB find it bitdefender show it as virus.. So we have to pay for bitdefender and use MB FREE version to find virus? <img class= " />

MBAM will generally look for different malware programs than an antivirus program looks for, such as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). Many of these are downloaded inadvertently with other downloads and are more of a nuisance than a danger, giving pop-ups etc. Many of us here have the two programs installed, some running MBAM real time (not generally recommended) without problems - a little extra protection does no harm.

When downloading it is best to always choose the "Custom install" and carefully check that they are not sneaking in something extra along with the program you are expecting.
