The problem appeared yesterday, and all new mails using pop server (not imap) are displayed in source code. The problem disapears when Bitdefender is uninstalled. So maybe the is an issue with the antispam module since recent update ?
As explained in ThunderBird forum :
In Bitdefender -> Protection -> Online Threat Prevention -> Encrypted web scan. Toggling this setting to off seems to stop the corruption occurring.
I don't see what it has to do with email though. Could this be fixed without disabling this setting ?
Hello, I've noticed another similar thread, can you check the screenshot attached by the OP here, and let me know if you are experiencing something like this as well?
Also, I found another one:
I will investigate this further.
Thanks
Yes, same problem. But only with mails from pop server. Not with imap servers.
The emails show as code source in object field. This happens since yesterday.
There are many other people with same troubleshooting on Thunderbird Forum, all running BitDefender.
Uninstalling Bitdefender solves it. Or disabling Encrypted webscan as I said.
I confirm the develpment teams are actively looking into this. Thanks for reporting this. Now, if you are a member on that forum, you can spread the word so we can send assurances that this will be fixed asap. There may be other users who are trying to troubleshoot this without knowing what's actually causing it, and spreading the word will definitely help the community.
Thanks again!
Thanks, I did report this.
There are at least a dozen Thunderbird users reporting trouble in Thunderbird support forums.
Hi, I spotted a difference between normal and corrupted email . On the corrupted email source code (right part), 2 lines are added on line 85 and 87. When removed, the email opens correctly.
I don't know if that helps.
