Firewall Feature Wishlist 2026

Maybe I’m also the only one who wants these features. 😊 I’ve been using BD for over 15 years and maintain a very extensive custom FW rule set. Ever since, I’ve been missing two or three features:

To avoid being asked again every time a file is updated when a rule for it already exists (Alert Popup), there should be a “Don’t ask me again” checkbox in each individual rule.
Adding multiple files at once: Add a text-list (form) containing the file paths + EXE names via copy&paste.
Adding multiple files at once: Select a folder that automatically adds all .exe files inside it to the FW rules, plus a checkbox for “Block/allow new files added to this folder.”
Import/export firewall rules. (in the past i use the rules XML to copy into new installation, but I think it could be somewhat safer, as it could also filter out dead links, repair the XML structure, and, more importantly, allow parts of the rules to be imported separately afterward.)

Mr. Admin can put more Polls when you have some ideas. Or maybe some features was in planning? I dont know, have a nice week 🙃

Yes, some of the features you suggested here have been previously requested in the community. There was a request to add entire folders for the firewall, if this is the direction you meant, to automatically add all the files from a folder. Several members have also shown interest for an option to import/export firewall rules. So, you are not the only one who requires these features. 😊

I remember I forwarded the suggestion to exclude entire folders a few years ago and the security researchers had some concerns about this. But then again, I might confuse things and this may not be exactly the form of your proposal regarding files in a folder.

The idea of having a backup to import/export firewall rules has been debated in this thread, but also on other occasions. There's an important mention here, to restore settings for a subsequent reinstall, the user must select Reinstall and not Uninstall. In any case, a dedicated way to import/export firewall rules specifically is still being reviewed. As for the first two suggestions, I have also forwarded them to the development teams for analysis.

Regarding the poll options, unfortunately I cannot add or remove them independently from the thread. The only way to add an "all of the above" option for the poll would be to delete it, recreate it from scratch and then post it again with the 5th option included. Fyi, I have already voted for the "Import/export firewall" rules option.👍️

Yes, that’s exactly what I wanted. Right now, you have to set up each EXE file individually. And every time you click through 4 or 8 paths deep into the folder structure to find the EXE, you have to search through all those paths AGAIN to find the next file. That takes time and is frustrating.

Right now, what I do is list all the EXE files in a folder using the Explorer search, then copy all the file paths and enter them one by one into the FW rule. That’s faster than clicking around.

But it would be even faster if you could select an entire folder directly in BD, and it would automatically filter all EXE files and display an input screen with a list of the files (multiply choice)—then I could select them all, click “Add to rule,” and block internal access.

I hope after 3 years you find a solution for this feature. Thank you :)

I like these suggestions, especially the option to automatically add all executable files from a selected folder. That would save a lot of time for users managing multiple applications. An easier import/export process for firewall rules would also make backups and migrations much more convenient. Hopefully these features make it into a future release.
