So I utilize a chat program like Viber on PC. I use the hosts file to block the advertisements. I recently realized an advertisement sneak by and realized they upped their IP's for advertisement since last year. So i went into the Hosts file to edit and add the ip. When I did that, I of course used Notepad in Administrator mode and save just like last time. Few hours later I realized another advertisement, checked the hosts file and it reverted back to the old list of ips and the normal hosts file.
I then ran all my virus software worried it was a virus; I ran Malwarebytes and Bitdefender. Nothing.
I then ran process monitor and realized that Bitdefender was editing it?
How do I stop Bitdefender from editing my hosts file. Can I turn off the scanning feature in Bitdefender for hosts file, Save the hosts file, Restart and then turn it back on and it will work?
Is there a way to have bitdefender on but also leaving my edits alone? Thank you in advanced.
These are the ips I want to block from Viber in my hosts file. I should also note I have Bitdefender Total Security. Also, Please excuise if this is in the wrong category. This is the first time I've had to come on here because I couldn't figure out how to get Bitdefender working for me.
