being invaded

I am continuously being bombarded with messages on my MacAir laptop and not sure if genuine . I suspect they are not as they relate to me either having a Virus infection, (and sometimes it states the number of infections) my computer is at risk or "Action required! renew your antivirus subscription" I have so far resisted opening them but now they are becoming a rear persistent nuisance.

I am also suspicious of them since

1 I have the Bitdefender "total Security" which does my scans and reports no issues
it refers to McAfee Antivirus which I have never (as far as I recall) installed or subscribed to

McAfee antivirus scams are one of the most common ones doing rounds these days. Several users reported receiving emails or messages claiming that either their McAfee subscription is about to expire or has already been renewed and they have to pay the subscription fee and these reports can be easily found on various forums when doing a Google search.

To stop fake McAfee pop ups on your Mac, go to Settings -> Privacy & Security. Click Settings next to Notifications. To stop websites from making any new requests to send notifications, click the Block new requests asking to allow notifications checkbox and then Save Changes.
