Executing Scan While Logged Off

Hi,


I'm currently testing BD free edition; I've noticed that after scheduling a scan at a given time it doens't actually work if I'm not logged in; I guess this is by design so I was wondering which BD version would allow me to do such a thing?


I'm aware about that the real-time shield would scan files as they are accessed but what I'm looking now is to be able to simply schedule a files scan on an unattended computer.

    Hi Paolo Nibble,


    When you are not logged in, you cannot run any applications (including BitDefender, whatever version you have).


    So the answer is: none of the BitDefender versions (or any other antivirus vendors, or any other software vendors) can run while your computer is not logged on. This is a Windows security feature.


    I am not sure if BitDefender runs when the computer is logged on, but locked. You can try it and tell us if it worked (my guess is that it should work just fine).


    Locking a PC is just like logging off (you need to type the password to un-lock it), but is allows applications to run in background. To lock your PC, just press WinKey+L.

    I don't u######rstand your answer, I believe you misuderstood my question; are you really sure "no application can run when the user logs off" ?


    What about Windows Services (sterted at the system boot) and other tools that are started by the Task Scheduler?


    Any unattended application (i.e. it doesn't need to interact with the user like a files scanner could be) can be started the by the scheduler or just run as a service without requiring the user to even log in once.


    I'm afraid BT built-in scheduler is not running as service so obvisouly it cannot be used to start the scan process when the user is logged off but I believe BT can be executed through a command line so it can be started by the Windows built-in scheduler.


    Based on some forum posts info we have actually tested this solution; the scans actually gets executed (with NO user logged on), the logs are created, but the tool doesn't end so we have to kill the process.


    Basically it works, but I guess it would not be supported.


    Going back to my question, I was just trying to understand which BT edition, if any, would offer an unattended scanning utility that can be executed on a computer with no user logged in.
