Have you been able to resolve your problem of not being able to connect with Remote Desktop after installing BitDefender 2012? If so, how did you do it?
I have a similar problem. I am not able to Remote Desktop to the machine with Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 installed on it from outside our local domain, but I am able to Remote Desktop to the machine from within our local domain. If I disable the Bitdefender firewall, I am able to Remote Desktop to the machine from outside the local domain. Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 Firewall settings / Advanced / General Rules / Incoming Remote Desktop Connections is set to "Allow".0 -

The general rule or RDP works in conjunction with the network type you select. For example, if you set it to Public, it will allow connections from your subnet and deny connections from other subnets/Internet. If it's set on Home/Office (as it should in a network domain), connections should be accepted from other subnets. too. It all depends on the security of your network/subnet.0 -

Also, Network Location set as Work Network or Home Network, it only allowed connections from the local domain, not outside the domain. BitDefender Internet Security 2012 seems to be changing the default behavior of Windows 7 Professional, but I don't know how.0 -
Can you give an example of the network path you're trying to use to connect via RDP to your PC?
eg: IP of your PC (ip/subnet), ip from where you're trying to connect and if you''re using VPN to connect to your domain the RDP, or directly try to RDP to your PC

I am using the IP, 111.222.333.444. Obviously, this is not the actual IP adddress. There is no VPN involved. I can RDP to the pc from any other pc that has the IP of 111.222.333.###. However, I am not able to RDP to the pc from outside that domian, such as 111.222.555.###. If I turnoff the Bitdefender firewall, then I can RDP to the pc from 111.222.555.###.0 -

No real solutions yet. The only thing I can do to make it work is to turn off Bitdefender's firewall and turn on Window's firewall. This is not good since it defeats a major purpose of having BitDefender.0 -
I did find that changing Firewall > Network Details > Network Type to "Trusted" does allow me to Remote Desktop to the pc from outside the local domain. However, Network Type of "Trusted" is defined by Bitdefender as "Disable the firewall for the respective adapter". I also found that ping is still blocked when Network Type is set to "Trusted" implying that the firewall is not completely disabled. This does not seem like a good choice. What do people think?

I'm having the same problem as wilsonj23. Setting Network Type to trusted is a temporary fix that I'm not entirely comfortable with in the long run, because I'm not sure what it means.

Looks like the port is being blocked by BD firewall. Try to add this port in the trust list. By default the server listens on TCP port 3389. Its like creating a hole in your BD firewall only for this type of connection(RDP).

Hi vyrus and welcome to our forums
We recommend you to make sure the Firewall settings are allowing the PC communication with the internet as follows:
- open Bitdefender, go to Firewall panel and make sure it is turned on
- click on "Network details" and locate the adapter. It is either Local Area Connection if the device is connected by cable or Wireless Area connection if it is a wireless device
- for this particular adapter please set
*Network type to Trusted
* Stealth mode to Off
* Generic to Yes
and click Close.
