[resolved] Internet Security 2012 - My Computer Is Now Running Very Slowly
I installed Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 two days ago, after running 2011 without problems (and I have lost count of how many previous versions of Bitdefender I have had). I let the installer for 2012 uninstall 2011 and reboot before installing itself, as recommended on the Bitdefendeer website. My system has now become unbearably slow. Internet browsing is almost painful, especially Google searches, whatever browser I use. Even typing in a search box is difficult. But also, applications are slow to load and opening multiple applications at once causes some of them to hang for a period. I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional on an i7-2600 CPU with 8 GB of RAM. It is, or was, a very fast system.
Any ideas would be welcome, before I give up on this and go back to Bitdefender 2011.
I'm quite worried now because I have always enthusiastically recommended Bitdefender to anyone looking for a new AV. I know two of my friends started using it fairly recently on my recommendation and I hope they aren't having similar problems or they will hate me!

Welcome to the forum.
Since you "let the installer for 2012 uninstall 2011..." the previous version may not have been totally removed. I would recommend the following:
1. Make sure you are logged into Win7 with an Admin level user account.
2. Download the BD Uninstall Tool. Right-click on the downloaded file and select Run As Administrator. Follow the on-screen instructions and reboot the PC when prompted at completion. This will ensure that all previous installations of BD are completely removed.
3. Download the latest full-file, offline installation version of BDIS 2012 64-bit. Right-click on the downloaded file, select Run As Administrator and follow the on-screen instructions.
Let us know if that resolves the problem.

Thank you for your quick response. I followed your instructions and, though I've only been using the new installation for around 30 minutes, so far it does seem to have resolved the problems. Everything seems to be running much more quickly now - Google searches seem to have returned to normal.
