Bitdefender Firewall Ndis Filter Miniport #10
Hi..
i'm new to this forum as well new to bitdefender product. i'm using BitDefender total Security 2011. this is the only one security product installed on my machine, no other one!
my specs:
- Processor AMD Athlon II X2 215
- RAM 4 GB
- HDD 320 GB
- Network (onboard): Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
- Windows XP SP3
on Device Manager under Network Adapters there are 3 device listed:
- BitDefender Firewall NDIS Filter Miniport #10 (with yellow exclamation)
- Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
- Sierra Wireless HSPA Network Adapter
i tried to reinstall driver for BitDefender Firewall NDIS Filter Miniport #10 with 2 ways:
1. Install the software automatically
2. Install from a list or specific location, and i point to folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\BitDefender\BitDefender Firewall
both of those ways result "Cannot install this hardware. An error occured during the installation of the device. Access denied"
note that eventhough this driver has a yellow exclamation but my BD works fine, and Firewall feature works fine..
my question:
1. Is BitDefender Firewall NDIS Filter Miniport #10 SO IMPORTANT?
2. What does it do?
3. If i stay with current condition, what danger would i probably encounter in surfing the internet?
4. If this BitDefender Firewall NDIS Filter Miniport #10 so important, so how should i install the driver?
thank you

AM I VULNERABLE NOW WITH THIS PROBLEM?0 -
Hi
I am sorry for the delay of our answer and I hope to assist you in a timely fashion from now on. I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to convey our apologies in regards to the situation created.
Please note that you are not vulnerable.
You can not manually install the firewall driver because the file is protected.
Now to answer to your questions:
1. Yes it is.
2. The firewall driver filters all the traffic made through you network board.
3. Some files could be corrupt, we recommend you to repair the product or upgrade to Bitdefender 2012

Hi Cristi, thank you for your attention..
the link you pointed out is dead..
"Sorry, the link that brought you to this page seems to be out of date or broken."
actually, before i read your reply, i have found the solution. i downloaded FW_Install_XP.exe from here:
http://www.bitdefender.com/support/What-ac...ilable-391.html
and i just installed it although it's for BTS 2010
after restarting (without alerting me, just closing everything and restart) then in Device Manager there's no BitDefender Firewall NDIS Filter Miniport listed.
now the Firewall feature in my BDS 2011 is working with Incoming and Outgoing traffic is ON (the graphics bar convince me that everything is okay now..)
i hope this is trully the solution..
thank you..0 -
Hi
Sorry for that broken link.
The new link is http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?act...f=226&id=42
That solution reinstalls the firewall drivers for your current product. After applying that patch and a reboot, the firewall should be up and running.
If you don't see anything with the yellow exclamation sign related to Bitdefender in Device Manager, the firewall runs smoothly.
You can always upgrade to Bitdefender 2012 by following these steps:
